    My Fitness Pal App

Anyone here use this app? I got it on my iPhone because I was told you can type in any food and it will give you the macros by serving like on the back of a nutrition label. I made an account but can't figure out how to bring up that menu. Technology is not my thing...

I don't like the app because anybody can just go in there and add the nutrition facts of any food and it will go into the database.

If you look up lets say boneless skinless chicken breast you will get like 20 different choices with all different macros and cal counts :/.

Is it like the Wikipedia of nutritional facts?

Sounds great, kinda sucks that anyone can update it when they want. Surely there must be better, similar apps, that are sourced by someone like "livestrong"?

If you scan the bar code, it gives you the exact stats.

It is a bit like wikipedia. Anybody can submit nutrition facts into the database. So sometimes the same food will have a database of about 20-30+ different choices but with the same specific food with different macros and cals and you choose which one you want to add to your meal. That's why I stopped using it.

Have a bit of an own database on my desktop now though .

Ditto! Hahaha, exactly the same...I have a huge chart I made in windows that has carbs, protein, fat and calories of various food products. It's getting to be quite big now.

I agree. Just scan the bar code. It's kind of annoying at first but if u eat the same things everyday it'll be in you're "frequent" tab.

I had my gf do it in the beginning cause I'm lazy and get frustrated w technology. But now its simple.

But I don't use their calorie or macro recommendation to gain or lose weight. I calculated that myself and just use the app as a reference to my macros

Yep. I feel like I can never go wrong when I get the nutrition facts straight off the food. That's why I save them . It gives me a better peace of mind when building new diets .

Yeah I think it's a good app and pretty easy to use once you get used to it. But different strokes for different folks I guess
