It's time to paint my bike. There is plenty of life left in her but its time for a change.

I'm going matte white fairings but my final decision on either black wheels or gold wheels is in question.

I havent really given much time yet to really digest the two myself but I thought I would put it out there for your opinions...

    Which do you prefer?

I like the gold myself, little more flashy but that's just me.

Normally I love the simple matte black (preferably carbon) on white, but Im with Soar on this one, for some reason that first pic looks really sharp

I would take it one step further than the gold-ish and go copper with the matte... looks sexy

I juts looked them all three times to make sure i wasnt missing anything.

The first photos is too "girly" imho. That gold just doesn't do it for me. The second photo is tougher looking than the first. Yeah its flashy but that is not appealing to me in a bike like a Ninja.

Actually come to think about it, i wouldn't like gold trim on any bike. Im not calling you guys pussies or anything, but if the skirt fits, wear it. lol

I am kinda feelin the same that the gold is not as race ready al business style as the black. Problem is there is a kind of allure to the gold wheels that I really dig.

I'll definitely look at copper KP! That's a good idea.

I kind of want to have a color combo that makes me look twice as I walk past my bike.

Thanks for the comments all around guys

Put it this way, i would choose the Night Rod in flat black over any other Harley. I bit of red pinstripe is ok.

The gold only looks better because it is a professional photograph.
And gold will look black once you get a bit of grease and brake dust on it (unless you spend more time washing your bike than riding).
    Just go with black.

yeh but given the 3 choices and only the 3 choices IMO number 1 looks best.. i like the rugged plain flat black too but the way the second bike is done makes it look cheap IMO NOT race ready.. kind of more factory. also the 2 bikes are not exactly the same except the paint either.

    Just go with black.
All wheels look like hammered sh*t if the wash isnt kept up. Black shows the dirt more distinctly sooner after the most recent wash.

I definitely agree most of the allure of the gold wheeled bike is thr pro photography and photoshop finish.

They are very comparable with the exception of the stomp grip and lower painted fairing being black on one and white on the other.

All the extra gold accent pieces ie. Levers, heel guard and footpegs can be looked past.

I found a guy on a forum who had done this combo you're talking about. It does look pretty sharp

Paint or powder coat? Are you doing only for looks or do you want performance improvement? If you're looking for performance nothing beats lowering your unsprung weight. Go with Marchesini forged magnesium in gold (my vote) or black. If you're looking for looks only and are on a budget buy rim tape in any color combo you want.

    Good ideas thanks.

I would epoxy primered then poly urethane paint them. Super durable and I can do it myself.

The performance advantage is not really warranted for my 600 street bike. I did look into Marchesini...very nice thanks for the lead.

The S1000RR is actually my dream bike but the price tag is a bit out of my league at the moment with my first house purchase just on the horizon.

For now the ZX-6R will suffice
