What Are You READING right now?

Anybody reading anything interesting? Good? Informative? Magical?

Doesn't matter what it is, nutrition, lifting, science, medical, biography, fantasy, sci if, novels etc?

I just picked up Robin Hobbs latest, Blood Of Dragons. It's the 4th book in her Rain Wild Chronicles. I've read everything she has released as Robin Hobb, if you haven't read her and like fantasy, you should. Most of her books are interlinked in some way or another.

So, what about the rest of you?

I don't necessarily read books but I do alot of research and reading.

Yesterday I was researching and reading a ton on water pump swap on my Yamaha boat engine and removing a stuck key way (did that yesterday on the boat). I like educating myself on subjects that interest me. So if its not sports, engines, cars, financial research of investments and backgrounds of the head of the investment departments, fishing techniques, softball bating techniques....etc, the list goes on and on.

Have you read "bringing down the house" ?
A book about the MIT students that rinsed Vegas by having a card counting syndicate.

Has a basic guide to card counting inside it

I've been reading Kingdom of Fear again. As I may have alluded to before, I'm a huge Hunter S Thompson fan.

I believe the MIT kids were using a really basic high/low count. If you want to learn an easy counting method learn the Hi-opt 1 method. For a single-level counting method, it's pretty accurate if you're making ace adjustments.

The trick with these counting methods is that you need one that is easy enough that you wont look like you're trying to count when you're using it.

There is a forum in Penthouse?
When I was around 14 my older sister (30s) rented a trailer right behind our property. Her boyfriend had a very nice collection of Playboy, Penthouse, Hustler and a few others. Probably a stack of 50 or more. I was given a key to her place with the pretense of going over after school to do my homework, or so I told my parents. I swear I actually read cover to cover on every magazine and I can still remember most of the stories and letters.

No I dont remember sh*t from school..... lol

Only thing I'm reading right now is this forum.

I thought most basic card counting is tolerated in the casino until you start winning big. They just make it tougher with more decks

If they figure out you're trying to do that, they'll just kick you out. And more decks = more difficulty. You have to have two counts, the running count and true count. To get the true count, you have to divide the running count by the number of decks remaining in play. Now try doing this with 8 decks and see how well you do. Statistically, your odds of winning are with smaller decks too. More decks = more ways for the house to make their hand.

Go to Vegas and stick to the 2 deck pitch games and try to play 1 one 1 with the dealer. That way you can see all the cards in play.

You don't want to play single deck because the blackjack payout is only 6:5 instead of 3:2. It doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but statistically, the 6:5 payout increases the house odds by quite a bit.
