Use of anavar and allopurinol (gout medication)

My husband who is 40, wants to start taking Anavar. He suffers severely from gout and the joint pain makes it difficult to work out. Anavar can help elevate the pain enough to workout, yet he is concerned if the mix of Allopurinol will cause serious side effects. Does anyone know any information on this?
