    Help with recovering lower back!

So I have been going to the chiropractor over the last 2weeks and he has been telling me NO LEGS for this time! But I'm on cycle and really need to bring them up! He told me I can do legs just no Squats, deads or leg press. Can anyone give me an intense workout that will atleast maintain muscle until my lower back is good to go??

    Thankyou in advance

I'm in the same boat I have a strain of my lower back from deads an I don't squat or do anything, I do the same workout just no deads, squats, leg press. Also try seated leg press machine as a replacement, I know it only goes to 405 (my gyms) and is light but do it slower

Front squats and crunches for abs will release your back pain.

So I ended up doing leg extensions, front squats and hack squats, for quads and 2 exercises for calves. I have a cycle/workout log in the members cycle thread if anyone is interested. Back held up very well

first exercise, tell the chiro to **** off go see some real healthcare people like physical therapists.

Google the symptoms of sciatic pain and check if it applies to you. If you have sciatic pain then you might have inflammation in the lower back/hip area or worse some disc issues... A chiropractor is qualified to treat neither.

The best thing to for many back issues is making the core stronger, stability exercises, bird-dogs, leg raises, planks...

    Replacing the regular squats:

    Bulgarian squat (little weight needed)
Single leg squats (very high step ups can be used as a replacement)
Glute-Ham raises, this shit is all the workout you need for your legs.

I would even add in reverse hyper extensions. You can do this with a swiss ball and bench.

i wouldn't be so quick to write the chiro off totally. what i would do is get needed adjustments from them then go see a massage therapist, usually low back problems stem from tight glutes and hamstrings causing the lower back to pick up the slack doing certain movements(deads, squats) so makeing sure you have good flexibility and mobility are key to prevent it from happening again, then strengthen your core.

bulgarian split squats(with rear leg up on bench)are nasty good as well as step ups.

if the pain persists i would go see a physio to make sure you dont have any other issues

also read up on Dr. Stuart McGill one of the best when it comes to the back.
