    Question Protein bar before workout?

    I had a protein bar before workout and when I had worked out for c.a. 45 min I got a bad stomach ache.
    Is it because of the protein in the bar?
    What do you guys have before workout?

    Before workouts, either a full meal 1 hour prior to my workouts or just a protein shake 15 minutes before my workouts. Aslo it depends on if I'm cutting or bulking.

    A protein bar shouldn't produce a stomach ache. There are so many different types of bars now a days that depending on which one you ate you never know. some bars are loaded with a bunch of crap and some are designed to be more healthy.

    As far as eating before a workout...I eat a full meal about 1 - 1.5 hour before training...my workouts are generally 1 -1 1/4 hour long so that at the end of my workout, I am ready to consume another meal.

    Yeah, a full meal around an hour before a workout is the way I do it too. If it's been more than an hour, then I just sip on a light protein drink during my workout. It all depends if I'm feeling really hungry or not.

    BTW.... By a full meal, I mean something healthy and not pizza or a burger. Today I just ate two small nuked potatoes plain, a can of tuna and some brocalli. Mixed it all together and added some Miss's Dash seasoning. I'll be working out within the hour.

    I ate some kind of low-carb protein bar and I felt just aweful at practise. What kind of proteinbar do you guys recommend?

    I am eating now, its 4:15. I work out at 6:30. should I eat before hand

    Chins....it's up to you. Do you feel like you need to eat? Perphaps just a protein shake before hand would do the trick.

    I don't feel like I need to eat, if I do I normally have a shake. I like working on a empty stomach, afterwards my body craves the protein.

    The only reason I eat an hour or so before I workout is because that's when my workout falls in with my meal planning. Other than that I'd prefer just a shake before hand.

    Margo.....I like the 'REAL' protein brand bar .....'Smores' flavored

    I´ve only had "Real" protein bar... pecan pie flavored and I really liked it so maybe I will go ahead and try the Smores flavored

    Mrgo..if you liked the Pecan flavored bar you will LOVE the Smore's
