Looking for career ideas..what do you guys do?

Either start your own business or go into medical. If your young, get some business management classes and study the area you live and start a business. Or the military is always looking for some good ppl.

We have to go on all of the medical runs with the ambulances also. It seems like 98% of the medical runs are either obese pt's, diabetics that don't know how to or refuse to take care of themselves or crack/meth/coke/bath salt/alcohol/opiate abusers. When they are desperate enough to call 911 they're usually as overdosed as you can get.

You never know

All fireman are also EMT certified (different requirements in some states) & we carry the same equipment & meds/drugs as the ambulance does, the only equipment we don't carry is a stretcher. There's only two EMT's on the ambulance so manpower can be an issue, also if the ambulance is responding from out of district we get there first & begin PT care instead of the PT waiting for an extended period of time for the ambulance to arrive.

the fireman here don't make shit...but id trade my job for it in a heartbeat. Think about it, they don't do hardly shit when they are not on a call. I could eat and train my ass off while I was living at the station. Truly a dream job

It kind of pisses me off that firemen don't get paid well for what they do, yet some asshole business executive can exploit others and make millions in salary and bonuses.

Being able to basically "hang out" around the station when we're not out on runs, training, cleaning the station, cleaning the trucks or maintaining equipment is a big perk of the job

If you want to get your dream job go to a fire academy/EMT school & get hired on at a dept. Once you get hired on try to get a slow house (retirement station that a lot of the old heads want) & you can get paid to eat & workout for 48 hours at a time.

I wouldn't trade my job for any other job.

oh wait, unless you are a doctor or attorney in my town you don't make shit either...like me. But hell, then I wouldn't be able to train..i guess I could hire someone to show me how to train like the attorney that goes to my gym does. At least he does train hard for a lawyer lol. I asked his trainer yesterday "you taking him to failure?" he replied" well he's training pretty hard...right now where just keeping the reps up 12-17 range. He's dropped down to 185 since hes been up here."

Cyber is in big demand right now. You might pick up a few computer certs and become an IT guy. It isn't unheard of to be making 100k+ with no formal education, only a little computer training.

I'm a full time personal trainer. Pays quite well for me but I invest a lot into becoming better
Reading sales, marketing books
Attending classes, seminars, workshops and I have a mentor teaching me how I do sales, business management, and market myself.

To some it up, the more u put into it the more u make. Or at least has Been my experience.

Just to reiterate, a lot of people don't think u can make much but I grossed over 70k this year so far.

Find something u can be passionate about and run with it and strive to better yourself with it in every way. I'm much more wealthy than most because my job isn't really a job at all. I love it. That makes me rich.

Just a blue collar guy here. I've worked manual labor jobs since I was 16 and started on a bridge crew. Aside from the 3 years it took to decide college wasn't for me, it's all I've ever done. I've worked in construction, spent some years as a garbage man, and now I work a factory job.

Can't say the pay is great, but it's not bad for the area I'm in. I live a modest life but it makes me happy. I take pride in the fact that its people like myself that help keep the world functioning.

My goal is to get my business to be self sufficient so I only have to work 5-10 hours per week and make awesome money. I'm not there yet but I expect to be within the next year to year and a half. Life is great when you love what you do. Prior to this I worked in corporate America in sales and made a great living. If you're good with people you can do awesome in sales. That said you can make a TON of money and you can make NO money.
