Chicken is chicken to me. My taste buds are either dead or I just suck at cooking. But expensive and fresh chicken tastes the same to me as one that was thawed in 2 minutes and cooked in 3.

I usually by bulk at SAMs club.

Every once in a while I will go to one of the local farms and buy their natural grain fed chickens (per-slaughtered and minimally butchered).

I would say local farm chicken is best quality for sure because I have seen how they are humanely raised and fed, unlike commercial mass production (seen that too, disgusting).

I can also say for sure that natural farm raised chicken has a very slightly different taste, almost unnoticeable, but what is different is the texture of the meat. Farm raised is definitely tougher, even when properly (not overly) cooked. It's not overly tough, just moreso than commercial grade, genetically and chemically enhanced chickens.

    Both taste just fine.
