They are great. Use them all the time
Looks like they simply broaden the diameter of which u grip. Dunno if u could drop a heavy bar thru em. I've never seen em
They are supposed to be like using a fat bar which I never have. The theory is that a larger grip allows you to increases grip strength (it makes it harder to grab) which in turn will build up your forearm muscles more. I thought they were kinda gimmicky myself.
I try to increase my grip strength on all lifts by gripping hard and not using any aids like wrist straps. I have always read the best way to increase grip and forearms was to static hold the last rep on deadlifts which I do. Just looking for something that might give an added benefit.
They aren't bad but not good enough for me to remember to put them in my gym bag.
I've never used fat gripz, but thick bar training did improve my grip (more of the thumb comes into use). When I didn't have access to a thick bar, I bought a thick hose, cut it, and wrapped it around a normal olympic bar. Fat gripz are just too expensive. For size, I've used thick handles on farmer walks and built an old school wrist roller.
I am holding off on buying them, if I ever do.
I started doing high volume croc rows to help grip strength. I have also really started concentrating on gripping hard and doing static holds on my deadlifts to improve my grip. I think it will come along nicely.
The hose idea is a decent thought though, might give it a try if my wife doesn't kick my ass for cutting one up. Might have to wait for one to go bad or use something else.
Captain of crush products are by far the most well recognized products on the market for increasing grip strength. If you are serious about it I would give it a look. Just ask any strongman or arm wrestler nothing better . good luck
