so I understand that I need to get rid of some blood. I'm willing to call my DR and have this awkward talk with him or his nurse, but in the end, will he be able to prescribe "blood letting" to me if I live in a different state than where he (and my family and my main medical coverage) is? I'm okay with paying for it, but will he even be able to do this? Do I just walk into a random DR office and show them my prescription and then they'll draw blood and take my cash?

^^^ No, they will reject him due to high hemoglobin, its best to get a script from a doctor and do blood letting. most blood drive companies do it but choose one other than red cross because they'll mark you in the black list and you can never donate there. red cross is nationwide and you want to have clean record with them so you can donate blood with them on a regular basis.

That's absolutely right.. I already called the Dr and faxed them the results. His nurse called back and said yeah.. He wants to see you as soon as you're home (early November). So I have to wait until November and I also have to spill all the beans. This concerns me, but I've been doing a huge cruise for two years and probably need some help. I also am signing up for Obama care so they cannot use pre existing conditions against me so I should be ok. If anyone disagrees with this aspect, please speak up.

Just drain some of your blood, theres videos on how to do it . Also although your estrogen says it's high, its probably at a good range on the sensitive panel. How do you feel on your protocol, and what is it? Dosage, hcg, ai?

Hey jo! Nah, no ai or hcg. I have plans to order hcg in a few months which is the soonest I can. So it's kind of a mess. And yeah I feel lots of fatigue but that's normal. Life is just stressful.

I had an almost identical situation. I agree with Bass about Red Cross as they have a new nationwide database. BUt there is NO sharing of information between non affiliated blood banks. I've done research and gone to three different ones and even asked.

I donated 3x and each time brought the HCT level down about 3% and felt better each time.

My Hemoglobin was a little less and maybe that's how I squeaked by.

The blood test results you posted, what was your protocol when the blood was taken?

My theory is that since red blood cells live 120 days that if you reduced the amount of Test you are taking, over time it would sort out. I do not know if this is true but I did see my levels continue to come down quite a bit, even after the 3rd donation. I attribute this to my lower dosage.

I was pretty nervous and i found a great urologist and he didn't give me a hard time at all and told me that I did exactly the right thing. He prescribed Test without a second thought. Of course this can depend on your age but I am older and it wasn't an issue at all.

Don't worry too much, as it's not like the first time they've heard this and being direct and honest shows you are taking it seriously and you want to go forward the right way now.

OK, just read this..again..I was at the same dosage and the same results! I was freaking out as I was feeling like pure crap and got incredibly bad doctor advise..long story but I got it all sorted out..There's no pre existing condition..

I know others might not agree but I would take a chance and find a local hospital and search around for smaller blood banks..around here they were like vampires and all were very happy to take my blood.

Drink lots of water and have a decent meal and give it a shot..pardon the expression.

You will need multiple phlebotomies to get the hematocrit to 45 from 57. It took three over the course of two weeks for met to go from 54 to 45. Don't let anyone tell you just get it's to 50 and your fine. I have researched this heavily and 45 is the safe number for a male. The blood thickens exponentially above this. Once you get it under control, make normal, free 8 week blood donations at the Red Cross..
