I am taking this exercise physiology class in college and my professor was an intern at purdue and is now the strength coach at my school. He is also an ACSM certified trainer. He says a person of my size, 6'2", 230lbs. only needs roughly 40-50g of protein a day to build muscle. He says if I am taking more, it's just getting wasted.
How can this be true? I know we hear a lot that it should be around 1 gram per lb. of bodyweight. Can someone help me out on this. I am trying to stay low carb because I am around 30% bf right now. I am confused. I am so confused on whether all the protein is going to waste and if I should be calorie counting on my diet or not. Help, REDROCK
