I had a sit-down with my kids last night about this very topic. They spend way too much time on the phone and TV. They used to read book a lot, and now not at all. They have kindles, and I encourage them to download books.

Biggest thing for me is the TV.. just wastes the day for kids I think. The phone, I can understand if they want or need to communicate with friends, etc. but I don't think anything good comes out of watching too much tv.

They've been slacking on chores too.. which leaves more for me to do, so they're back on track today. They came home, no TV, did HW, one downloaded a book and the other has a friend over doing a school project.

enjoy it man.. set standards early and be consistent with them. It can get out of hand really easily. Thing is, my kids are awesome. They are good kids, but I feel as though they could be more productive with other, more beneficial things if they didn't spend so much time on TV/phone.
