    Too much protein?

I have started using Gold Standards 100% Whey Protein powder. 24 grams protein per glass. I do one about 45 minutes before a work out and another 30 minutes after the work out.

It has 5 grams BCAA, 4 grams of glutamine & precursors & it mixes with no clumps and no special devices...

Question... Is this too much protein? I drink both glasses about 3 hours apart...

No. In fact, take 2 scoops post workout. Take 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of lean mass spread throughout your day.

On cycle I go 1.75-2 times my body wieght in grams of protein. off cycle no less than 1.5 grams per pound. All depends on your thyroid function. im on the hyper side so my protein turnover is rediculous. more cant hurt as long as it is not preventing you from getting your other macro nutrients in other foods.

Excess protein consumption strains your liver and kidneys.

Why multiply anything by body weight? You feeding your fat, too? Too much protein can most certainly hurt.

A comprehensive metabolic panel will tell you.

By definition: more than your body can absorb and process. But like Austinite mentioned, you really need a metabolic panel to know if you're hurting your body.
You should be fine so long as most of your protein comes from solid foods and is around/under 1.5g/lb of LBM.
The guys who tend to run into issues are drinking several hundred grams of protein daily from shakes for years and like 2-3+ g/lb of lbm total.

I agree with you guys. thanks for the idea. So basically dont have more than a two scoops a day of protein powder. You really need the nutrients in solid food anyways. I dont even use a power. Im 100 percent food. organic grassfed, dairy free soy free gluten free. I have a few dietary issues. but feel like a God when i eat right.

Just remember that shakes are meal replacements. If you can get a decent meal in, you can skip the shake. And that makes for a more nutrient diet. Not that theres anything wrong with shakes now and then.

Newest control group released by Eric helm in NZ has shown when eating in a deficit you need to be consuming 3.3g/kg of FFM So clearly when eating a balanced diet and a surplus these protein needs are lower.

Flex said his kindey problems came from his hereditary disease and was worsen by the grossly large over amounts of protein he was consuming and high dosages of potassium.

Yes...one could argue ok it was the drugs, but more science is supporting how hard protein can be on the body.

so a 25 g shake before and 50 gram shake afterwards should be good to go... no worries there?

Here is why I ask... my boss who was downing protein shakes for breakfast, lunch, pre and post work out, had to go into the hospital. He had a major intestinal blockage his doctors told him was due to lack of solid food. (Kind of counter intuitive). He was lacking fiber and it caused the protein shakes to begin to build up in his intestine walls.

I would like to avoid that if I can.

This is why insoluble fiber is important.

    ಠ_ಠ - bahahahahahaha

eating vegetables is and excellent way to limit carbs, get important micronutrients, keep you sated, and keep your metabolism going. fiber is essential when having a protein high diet where you're consuming at least 1.5gprotein/lean mass lb. you should also be getting plenty of water because processing protein takes more H2O breakdown.

i don't know about you, but for me, the better the shit, the better my body will be at handling the next meal i put into my body. who likes feeling bloated anyways? i love that hollow feeling your bowels get when they are empty.
