Ok so I have heard a few different things about this so I am not sure can I work out a sore muscle after I have had 2-3 days of rest or is the muscle still repairing

if you stay sore that long most likely its your diet. I used to have this problem when I was on low carb diet, once I added carbs before and after workout the soreness on lasted a day or two the most.
alright ill add more carbs to my diet see if it helps
Don't forget the protein. lol
Head over to this section and start reading and dissecting your current diet.

Im currently doing a 3 day split body routine working out naturally im not going to start on any anabolic for awhile i want to see what i can do without it but i do plan on using it in a year or so. Im still sore 2-3 days after a good workout even with what i think is a proper diet especially the big muscles like legs and back dont know if im doing anything wrong
Agree with Kel here, once a week for each has been both more effective AND efficient for my life and training.Originally Posted by kelkel
unless your in the first 6 months of training, go with once a week each body part split..
I hit every muscle 3x per week and am never sore. Soreness decreases with conditioning. Ever work a hard labor job? Day 1 sucked, day 2 sucked more, but by the next week what made you sore didn't do anything to you? Same thing with lifting weights.
IMO, I am strongly against split routines. This is one of the reasons why. You're not conditioning your body to recover faster as well as you could be with splits. I.e. full body vs split routine, the full body routine will make you able to handle more intense workouts faster. There is a TON of research to support this. Look up HST.
