I just feel like venting about what is happening to my aunt.
She was out a few nights ago with her girlfriends having a couple drinks. She went to two bars that night, upon leaving the second bar she realized her pocketbook has gone missing. Inside contained her keys, her iPhone, her wallet, her work badge and a couple over important things.
She searched both bars and to no luck couldn't find her pocket book. Once she returned home she went inside to try and figure out what to do next, after a moment she realized something was not right. She ran outside and noticed her car was missing (her friend drove her to the bar)
She immediately calls the police and they come by after 40 minutes from the initial call time to investigate the theft. The next morning she calls all her credit card companies to cancel out her cards only to find out that shortly after her pocketbook was stolen her credit card was used at a gas station to buy cigarettes and snacks. The card was then used at a diner and then an attempted purchase was made several towns over at a Walmart for a large item. The card was luckily declined due to the thief not knowing the PIN number.
My aunt has contacted the police with this information, they told her they put out a notice of the make and model of the car but besides that there's nothing else they can do. They would not go to the Walmart to look at any possible camera footage because it's not in the town of the crime.
Two days later my aunts car was pulled over on the highway by state police with a man driving the vehicle. Without informing my aunt they had a private towing company tow the vehicle back to a garage. My aunt had to pay $390 to get her vehicle back all while getting an attitude from the owner of this garage.
My aunt asked the police if they can search the vehicle because it smelled like marijuana and she was afraid someone may have dropped something in the car. They refused to do so. The local police and state police have been withholding/neglecting information from each other. My aunt asked for the identity of the man or for a copy of the police report because she thinks whoever stole her car possibly knows her but they will not give her any information on who took her vehicle. The person posted bail the day after being arrested. This person knows where my aunts lives and works and she is scared for her life.
My aunt contacted the insurance company to see if they would reimburse her for the towing fee but they gave her some b.s. on her having a $1000 deductible and they wouldn't cover it because the car was taking on her private property.
It just seems like no one is trying to help my aunt and she is being treated more like a criminal then the victim. What's wrong with the world today? Is everyone solely driven by money?
