It's a good source of vitamins, minerals, and potassium and goes well with any meal (IMO). But no, it isn't anybody's secret to getting big. That isn't what vegetables are for.
Spinach is considered a "super food" in that it contains some of the highest health benefits of most any other super food. Extremely high in Vitamins A, K. Also one of the highest protein content of any other green (12% DV,) Very high source of Folate/folic acid.Over 25% DV of magnesium, iron, potassium, Vitamin C and manganese.
Way too many health benefits to list, but never underestimate the value of greens or any food for that matter, as bodybuilder's and athletes there are many types of supplements we take but the power of natural whole foods are the healthiest and safest source, that, and its what the body recognizes first and foremost.
Now that being said please keep in mind that as an athlete you would not be able to do much good by eating just greens. I would recommend juicing for an excellent boost of super green/ super foods. Just don't go overboard with it, stay way from using too much fruit also.
Love spinach.. Very nutrient-packed.
No food can be categorized as "Body builder" food. Food is food.

With respect, food is not "just" food. Protein is not s food but a byproduct of a food. I think most (including myself) would say that there is no such thing as bodybuilding food. This is to say that not all food is created equal, and that there are clearly the right choice of food while bodybuilding or being a competitive athlete, or even a recreational one, I run a couple marathons a year and the occasional half marathon, and in that process of preparation, I would never believe I could eat just any food and get the same results as eating the "right" nutrient packed foods. Respectfully submitted. -- JN
I always liked spinach and recently discovered Kale - another dark green leafy vegitable and it actually tastes damn good. Good nutrients in both.
