Weight gainer timing and heavy reliance on gainers

I guess this is a little less of a question and more of a check that my reasoning makes sense. I'll start off by saying that I'm not a big eater. I have a really hard time whenever bulking. I try to eat as much real food as I can, but I really just loose my appetite to the point where it's hard to swallow once i hit around 2600 calories (which, tend to cause me to loose weight, I find i need close to 3000 to maintain with my active lifestyle).

SO, to get around this, I've been leaning on gainers pretty heavily. I use Dymatize elite mass, a 600 calorie shake, first thing on waking up. I also take two half shakes of this stuff before and after working out. Although sugar free, this is a maltodextrin product, so I figure taking it first thing in the AM and around my workout will take advantage of the times when my body can better utilize this spike of quick digesting carbs.

At somepoint during the day, I'll take a 500 calorie MHP up your mass, which gets its carbs from oats. A better gainer for sure.

I've been having pretty good results staying lean and gaining with this 1700 calorie infusion of gainer ontop of my regular meals. The only downside I've noticed is I have to make sure I eat a ton of fibre so my shits are normal. Has anyone else gone down this road before? Positives? Negatives?

If it's working for You there is no reason to change it. I prefer whole food and have done many tests on myself with protein shakes vs whole food and for my body it doesn't compare. It's like protein shakes do nothing for me. I used dymatize also.

I agree shakes suck. IMO you would be much better with out them. If you must make a weight gainer shake use natural ingredients.

8oz whole milk, 1 cup liquid egg whites, 1 cup whole rolled oats, 2 tbspn natural peanut butter. Maybe some mixed frozen berries or a banana.

More protein, more good carbs, and probably less sodium and sugar. Plus I bet you a dollar it tastes better and costs less per shake. Always avoid processed foods or supplements, who knows what's really in them. Who knows they actually have the protein content stated. I believe the shake I stated above is around 900 cals, 60-70 protein and 55 carbs of real food. Two a day with eating and I can't imagine you not gaining weight dude. Good luck.
