    A noob looking to learn!

So, I guess I'll just jump right in with my stats:

    Age: 29
    Height: 6'0"
    Weight: 220

I was an athlete in HS... I got married after college and ballooned into a major fat ass (285 lbs). That whole life is past me now and I got back to the gym to start over. I got down to 195, but looked like I was about to die. I decided to stop the cut and start building mass. That was the beginning of May. I'm now 25 lbs heavier which is definitely a good portion of fat. I honestly just was lazy about my bulk. Anyway, I'm still happy with my muscle gains, but not happy about this extended cut that I'll be going through. Next time, I'm not getting this fat. I'm sure that looks bad to you guys... a lack of discipline, but I am just being honest and I've learned my lesson on that one.

So here I am now. I had a friend recommend some stuff and I wanted to go learn what I could to know what, if anything, is right for me. Honestly, my goals at the moment aren't to gain much mass. In the very short term, I am looking to aid myself in the cut. I'm looking to maintain what I do have and just give me the capacity to train more. My overall goal at the moment is to have good functional athletic strength and ability. The way I am going now, I find my body being completely run down trying to maintain my strength lifting while simultaneously trying to build up my cardiovascular ability. My legs are particularly worn squatting 3 times a week and running in-between. I'm not sure how obtainable my goals are, but I am here to find out all I can. I have the work ethic.

Thanks everyone for reading! I have thick skin and take all advice seriously. I am just looking to know what I can realistically expect and find what I can do to get there.
