    Slin and type 1 diabetic

So I have read all over the dangers of using insulin as a non diabetic for purposes of bodybuilding. However, I was just diagnosed a t1 diabetic about a month ago.

Dr. Cannot know how long I have been a diabetic but assumes the lack of muscle gain (more like muscle loss) in the past year is because go unstable bs levels.

My question is, since I need the stuff. Why not use it to benefit in my gains?

Do any experienced slin users wanna chime in?

What is the best way to do this?

    Thx in advance.

The main issue here is that you'll need to be extra precise with your carb:insulin ratio. This is because you can overshoot your carb dose and become hyperglycemic, whereas non-diabetics will still produce insulin to keep their BGL in normal range. We (non-diabetics) only have to worry about hypoglycemia and can always go heavy on the carbs when in doubt. Granted, hyperglycemia isn't nearly as acutely dangerous as hypo, but you wouldn't want to make a habit of jacking up your BGL.

Seems pretty simple though for us diabetics. My doc says its 1iu per ever 12 grams of carbs for me. Often times even that is too much for me and sends me low.

Yeah, but you will shift that ratio (less carbs per IU) when you start using more insulin and carbs due to insulin resistance. And docs tend to be conservative with the slin recommendations, as hyperglycemia is less acutely dangerous.

I actually think the doc was not very conservative with my ratio. Often times, that ratio sends me very very low. I am very sensitive to insulin.

On a side note. Not sure if this has anything to do with slin. I have been back to lifting for the past 2 weeks after about a month off per docs orders.

My first couple days, pretty weak probably 10-15 lbs off of my usual weight across the board.

Today, However, After using slin right around 150 carbs per day and 180 grams of protein. I lifted a higher dumbbell press than I ever have before.

Can this have anything to do with the slin. Really weird.
