    steak didn't stick with me?

I'm not typically a steak eater, but ive gotten so tired of chicken lately I went ahead and bought some sirloins. I had a 12 oz piece last night (plus a little more, my daughter didn't finish hers) and a large salad with cheese.

Typically, dinner sticks with me through the night and I'm not hungry until about 7am the next morning. But last night, I got hungry about 2 hours after dinner and was starving this morning.

Is it possible the lack of carbs from my dinner could explain the hunger? Or does steak simply not stay with you that long?

steak usually sticks with me pretty well. Of course, I probably eat more of it because I like it better than fish and chicken. I feel like red meat, with its somewhat higher fat content, digests much more slowly than carbs. Maybe you are working harder and / or growing and your body just needed more than usual.

Steak takes a while to digest, all the muscle and tissue takes time to be broken down. I'd say it's bc you had a relatively small meal.

I suppose it was a small meal to most. 110+ grams of protein and about 700 calories. I guess I should have replaced the salad with a Potatoe or something

What did you eat for 110+ grams of protein? 12oz steak does not have that.

12 oz = 340 grams plus the extra I had from daughters plate.

I'm doubtful you are getting the cut they are referring too but even if you are those macros are for a505g steak which is 18oz not 12.

This is funny. It's not the steak's fault. I can almost guarantee it is more calories and more satiating than a similar chicken breast.
