Does milk powder count as whole food to completely replace milk?
Does milk powder count as whole food to completely replace milk?
Huh?
It is just milk with the water boiled off.
Not sure what you mean.
Does it contain all amino acids like liquid milk - yes.
Is it better than liquid - depends on situation.
It definitely has a much longer shelf life.
Its generally more expensive from what I've seen.
The drying process also changes the flavor, there could also be added fillers, as well as an increase in the amounts of oxysterols.
If you want to replace liquid milk with powder, sure, but why would you? More expensive, tastes nasty, and no real advantage other than shelf life.
Thats my take on it.

In my area, powdered is way cheaper. Ya i find powder way more convenient to take to school and etc..
Anyway the reason I asked is because how whey is a supplement and doesnt count as food. Was just wondering if it's the same situation for powdered milk. But now i know the answer![]()
Yea man the whole supplement/food thing could be a situation of tOmato - toMAto.
I try and get protein from meats and eggs primarily and use whey to supplement to reach daily macro.
Cheapest milk powder in our country is about 1/3 cheaper than the cheapest milk.
I think I'm gonna start buying it. It's cheaper, has the same nutrients, better shelf life,
easier to store. I can get milk as thick as I want, plus I don't have to carry it from pantry to fridge.
When I was little my mom would force me to drink powdered milk.
If I even smell it, it makes me want to throw up. haha.
But if you like it and its cheap, go for it.
