    Has your taste in music

Has your taste in music ever affected your friendships?

A lot of my friends have turned into country buffs. They all have become chewers. they all wear country clothing when they go out now, all they do is listen to country and talking about reckneck shit.

Im not one to be a cammilian, so no i've become an outcast of sorts over music. they go to all these concerts and i never get invited cause I dont like the shit. Its almost like they became trendy but a country version. its weird. im not going to dress a certain way just to fit in.

I'd hypothesize that the friendship couldn't have been very stable/strong in the first place if something as petty as music "can change a friendship"

Affected? Not really. But have never really met anyone with the same taste in music. I can handle just about anything for short spans so long as it's not rap or country. My music however, I have to listen to it alone.

In my personal experiences it hasn't affected friendships.

I can put up with whatever other people want to listen to, but my music I listen to alone.

It's weird though, I do not have friends that listen to what I listen to...unless they're in the closet about it?

for me, music should fit the mood

when I study, some eastern music does the trick
when I'm on the Harley, some fusion rock/blues - ZZtop comes to mind
    shooting pool some southern rock
when I'm partying, some old school funk
football game tailgating = heavy metal
when I'm "in the mood" maybe some Chicago or something soft

the list goes on and on...........

    Sounds like typical high-school stuff.
People grow up, taste change and people grow apart. It's just part of life.

I have used the Bruce Springsteen/Michael Jackson litmus test for years. I pretty much can't get along with anyone who actually likes either.

Listening to country and dressing and acting like a redneck are two different things. I love country, even turned my wife into a country lover. When all she listened to before was rap and techno type "dumb n bass" or whatever it's called lol.

But I don't dress or chew or any of the part.

But I will tell you if you have a hot country bar in your town...just show up on ladies night...most don't play continous conutry..they will switch to normal club music. But I gurantee you will see some of the most beautiful women those nights. The one in my old area waits were over 1-2 hours out the door

Then just go...no need to dress the part. I mean I see all variety of people in my old club. It's for everyone. All depends on how redneck it is though. I love country but far from redneck here.

When I got divorced my friends took me there instead of a strip club and it was by far a better choice then a strip club. Lot of fun that night. Too many to choose from lol.

I don't think that's such a dumb thing to lose a friendship over. If one of my friends banged one of my sisters, I think there would be a fight.
