I'm pretty set on getting the NASM

After much thought of wtf to do with myself. I'm pretty set on becoming a PT. & the NASM seems like the way to go.

I spoke with the PT manager at my gym. He said I can either get the ace or NASM. He said the ace is easier but after doing some research I see that NASM is much more widely accepted.

I'm considering switching my degree from business to possibly nutrition or the like.

I have read into this quite a bit & it seems to be way more enjoyable than working in an office forever. The pay is nothing too extraordinary, but it's decent. The hours are more all over the place, but IMO that's way better than a standard issue 9 to 5.

Anyone here get theirs? Or is currently working as a pt?

Seems like a decent juicer job. The main guy at my gym competes and is sauced to the max. But, no one else is. For the majority, they seem to get burned out on the gym life. Like the other guy I know, he pretty much quit working out. Yet, still works there.

Sounds like you will be spending more time in the nutrition section soon. Good luck with your career choice.
Even in high school I wanted to be a gym teacher, preferably for an all girls school. Yeah I really though about that back then. It's all because of Claudette Doneen and those perfect tits and short shorts. Thankfully I was squad leader and made sure she was always right in front.

NASM is a good cert to get. If you really want to go to the next level look into the CSCS that's what I'm working on getting. As for working as a PT working for a gym the pay blows but if you can find cheap rent at a studio or open your own you can make good money. I have a PT friend in LA that works for a big chain gym and gets benefits but makes most of her money training at a cheap rent studio on the side.

Eat meticulous, train ridiculous for best results.

i did a PT course last year, and part of that course was work experience in a gym...

i quickly realized that it wasn't for me.. working out in a gym and working in a gym is 2 completely different things....

What's exactly wrong with a 9-5 job? No offense, but there's no money in being a PT. Reality is most of them struggle to survive. You'll do just fine with your BA in Business Administration if you get good grades, do some internships & pay your dues. Good luck...

I worked a 9 to 5 ever since I was a kid. It gets old & swear there's more to life than being stuck at an office all day. Yet, it does have its positives.

Yeah, the pay is a joke when you start off. That is the #1 thing that stopped me so far. But, I understand what kind of pay we're working with here. With a few years experience I'm looking at under 50k per year working in AZ. This deff makes me think twice about it then some. Since, I can make that right away with the experience I already have.

I have also looked into getting my own studio. It's fairly affordable, but I have no experience. And would still need some along with a cert before I go out on my own.

But, seeing starting pay that I seen almost 2 decades ago sure is a bummer.

You have to REALLY REALLY LOVE personal training in order to deal with the pay. And if you REALLY REALLY LOVE training, you'd be kind of annoying. lol.

Just move to Texas man, plenty of jobs here. Healthiest state ever.
