With high blood pressure no, albuterol can raise BP making it dangerous for someone with high BP.

Albuterol is best when you're already at a decently low BF % and are exercising regularly so that you can see it's enhanced effects. He isn't just going to take Albuterol and lose weight with a bad diet and no exercise etc. It has a VERY limited
effects in that regard. It increases you using fat for fuel. If he's not exercising much anyway, he's not going to see the effects. Albuterol is not particularly good for your heart either, and an overweight 50 year old that has a blood clotting issue, that can cause more harm then good.

I think the best thing for you to do if you're worried is either have a talk with him about how you want to see him make more healthy choices. You can either say it straight up, or subliminally hint it to him. You should also volunteer to aid him in exercising. See if he wants to go on runs with you, to the gym etc. try to get him outside and take walks or what have you. There are plenty of ways that he can get into better cardiovascular shape, and have better overall health.

At the end of the day, it comes down to him, and his actions. There is not ALWAYS something that you can do about it. I know it may be frustrating, but i'm sure you will be able to figure something out. Best of luck.

NO... It's OK as an aid for someone who is trying to get down into the single digit body fat numbers but not for any real weight-loss.

If he is obese he has some very poor eating habits and it's not just because he sits for long periods at a time. I sit at a desk from 8pm - 8am. Yes 12 hr shifts. Of course I can stand up and walk if I need to but I do sit FAR longer than I really should, probably 10+hrs.

He needs to figure out how to eat healthy. Bring food with him instead of stopping and eating out. If he eats or snacks while he is driving the time he would normally spend sitting in a restaurant he can go for a walk. There are many options but no magic pills. He needs to make a life style change.

yeah thats what i was thinking also just wanted to see if it was an option, i told him he needs to change his eating style and get his cholesterol and blood pressure in check before i considered letting him take it, thanks for the advice guys

I see you mentioning that your dad is in good shape for an obese person and the truth is, he is not. Unfortunately, being obese is not healthy or being in good shape. I think it is a bad idea to give him something that speeds up your heart, when he has high blood pressure.
What you can do though, is read up as much as you can in the diet section, and design a nice diet that will meet his needs and goals. Once your armed with this new diet plan for him, you can hand it over, explain to him the diet and then the rest will be up to him. Im also willing to bet that with a good diet, and lowering his body fat percentage, will improve some of the bad conditions he currently has.

    Good luck!

He shouldn't ever take albuterol, based on his age, lifestyle, and medical history. High doses of beta-2 agonists aren't healthy any way you look at it; but a strong, healthy cardiovascular system can tolerate them.

sounds like he needs a diet, and cardio. I also work very strange long hours and it does hurt the diet.... I wouldn't be getting him anything, maybe a trip to the Dr. to help control BP and talk if theres anything for the weight loss
