Strongman on 20k kcals a day!

Just found this video on youtube.
How is this possible, on a normal day he eat between 15 and 20 THOUSAND kcal. I get he's big and trains alot but still. Thats alot of food, he seem to eat very clean also, meat, eggs and stuff.

I don't see how he'd be able to train with 5,000+ calories in his stomach before a session. But everyones different??

I ate almost 10k a day for a few months during my first cycle, it was the most disgusting feeling. I would be burping up chunks of food while heating up my next meal, my gut was so distended I looked pregnant. I was eating 9 meals a day and 3-4 protein shakes with milk. I put on a ton of muscle, but I couldn't do it for a long period of time, I felt like shit all the time.

According to a chart I read I should be eating 5500 cal a day at my weight to be in a surplus to gain mass. That is a ton of food, I am going to have to count my daily intake to see where I'm at, not sure if I'm at that or not.

I struggle to get 4500. I feel like I have to eat non stop. I have to have a dirty meal literally everyday to get enough calories when bulking.

I drink more beer than I should so I get some cal there, lol. I don't think that counts, but they do add up at the end of the week.

Lmao - wow, that's exactly how I tackled my first cycle. Geez that was the worst feeling. It felt so good to stop eating when I decided to start cutting.

But, it sure worked - I added a ton of crap weight, but some damn decent muscle too.

I added mostly clean weight, my diet was insanely clean for the amount of food. Steak, eggs, and oatmeal for 3 breakfasts, chicken, rice or potatoes, and veggies for 3 lunches, then whatever we were having for dinner, I would make two or three servings for me. That was every two hours of eating, then when the gains stopped, I would throw in protein shakes in between the meals. It was gross, not something I could do for long and live a normal life.

    Yeah - I'm good

No more of that shit, I cheated too much & added bunk calories

But, either way - I'm not willing to extreme force feed to grow

It works, but it's less pleasant than cutting

I don't eat like that anymore, too old for that shite. No one is paying me to be the biggest and best out there so I am more relaxed with things like diet. I do try and keep it fairly clean and get as much as I need, but I don't stress it.This is a recreational hobby that is also a lifestyle for me, I want to enjoy it not stress over it.

If I recall correctly, Brian Shaw puts down about 10k/day, but he's a fairly decent sized guy and he doesn't play around w/ his training.

Just watched the vid. That's Robert Oberst. He's crazy strong but carries some weight. Hell of a guy though. If I recall correctly, he dropped a chance @ a football career to be a caregiver to a relative... I'm thinking it was his mom??? That's why he is often seen sporting pink high tops ( cancer awareness).

    20k/cals/day?

    for how long?

maybe a week at the most?

I don't think I can be convinced he's able to do that in the long term without turning into a blob

5kcal/day for me is really pushing it.

there was a time before I ever thought of counting macros when I suppose I was eating maybe six or seven kcal/day for a long time. Maybe not that much. Hard to say. But it was more than I've ever really eaten before or since. The strange thing was that if I didn't eat correctly, I'd run out of energy before my next break in 2 hours. but if I put too much in my stomach, I couldn't keep the pace. first time I began eating brown rice regularly. and four or five sandwiches for lunch, and one or two every break, and non stop oranges. so on breaks, I'd run to the toilet to take a crap and then eat some more. I did that for two or three years. and I was very lean.

so I suppose anyone that can eat like that, would have to be constantly burning energy, at a very high rate, all day long. I don't suppose a body builder would want to do that, as the amount of energy he would have to expend, he never would be able to rest, or else he would lay on fat; and we all know we only grow at rest.

.......something doesn't sound right. Maybe I better watch the video?

Possibly. Like I mentioned, Brian Shaw hits around 10k/day, but is 6'8"( I think) but carries less belly than Oberst.

If you are a non-cardio type ... cannot say.

When I was in dive school (USN) it was a minimal of 15K calories a day or you would bonk on the swim. 20Km swim was a warmup...usually ended up 40-60 Km.

Phelps puts away over 26K calories a day when he is in full training.

Andre the Giant could down a case of beer and that would get his first belch. He was a freak of nature...

Which leads me to say what my Blood Doc said to me last week.... You know that table there signifies what all medical books are wrote about. When you lay on it your knees are hanging off and your head also. (He breaks out a book) Look at the recommended weight for people starting at 5'9. You see it barely increases going up through 7 Ft. Why is that? Because the top 20 and bottom 20 percentiles are removed from consideration where medicine is concerned. That bed is made for an average 5'7 male..not 6'4.

When I look at Kevin Nash I wonder what his calories per day are like. He is a monster and has some great definition.

This is a guy that I went to school with, he was a monster even in school. He looked like a gorilla standing outside the cafeteria leaning against the wall in his hoody sweatshirt. I trained at the same gym as him for a while in the mid 90's, by far the biggest, strongest person I'd ever seen. I watched him do incline Smith presses with 6-7 plates a side, I know how many because he would leave them on and we would have to take them off to use it after, lol. I was beside him once at the dumb bell rack and he was doing side laterals with 90's, it was mind blowing back then. I was in my mid 20's and just in awe of his size and strength. He had no cardio though, we had a flight of stairs to get to the gym, he would be panting and sweating by the time he got up that flight of stairs and lean against the wall for a few min to catch his breath.

Anyone know how much energy the body needs just to digest all that food? Usually people cant eat that much because you wouldnt have digested the last meal before starting a new one, but over time maybe the system adjusts to this and speeds up the digestsystem so it both goes faster as well as burn more kcal just to digest food?
I know some buddies of mine eats around 8k-10k kcal a day for a week or 2 when they get stuck at gaining weights but they cant keep this up. I can easily do it with shakes though but not with clean food.
