    performance

anyone have tips on eating for optimal performance? I have trouble dialing in what to eat and when to have maximum energy at training time without feeling sluggish and sick from over eating too close to my workout. Does anyone have a good resource for tips on performance nutrition

Depends on how long before you're training that you are eating. It also depends what you're eating as well. What works wonders for me is 4 packets of oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder in it about an hr to an hr and 15 minutes before my workout.

You'll have to experiment and find out for yourself. Last couple days i've been having; 150g low fat greek yoghurt, 4 rice cakes with 40g cottage cheese, a protein bar and a coffee which i've really been enjoying. It seems to be just the right amount of food for me and digests quickly, i'll usually finish it, roam the forums for maybe 20 mins then leave once the coffees done.

Another thing i really like is oatmeal w/honey and peanut butter. This i need to wait a little longer though, seems to sit in the stomach for a while.

A factor just as important to your workout will be workout timing, i workout around the same time every day, about half an hour to an hour after breakfast. If i train later in the day my workout suffers a lot more, especially if i've had anything to do that day (ie work, study).

I usually work out at 530. Right after work. I do CrossFit so it's most often high intensity training. I find peanut butter sits on my stomach really heavy and can make me throw up if I'm really going hard. Caffeine makes me feel like my heart is going beat out of my chest.

A good greens powder protein shake is all I take in before a workout. You would be surprised at what the greens powder can do for you energy-wise. I fight muay which is very performance/high intensity based and it works wonders for me.

I've never heard of the greens protein powder.

One black coffee before leaving home

2 bananas as I walk to the gym.

    I feel great after that
