Why do all bodybuilders eat sweet potatoes?

I see most bodybuilders eating sweet potatoes over other types of potatoes.. why is this? The only real advantage to sweet potatoes I can find is they have more vitamins... anyone have any insight on this?

Not overall special about them except taste (make good fries) the only real benefit I see is low gi value which Supports normal sugar value and also is great slow dissolving carb source

White potatoes and others are rated higher on the glycemic index so they will cause more of an insulin spike.

I was looking into this while trying to seek out more paleo options.. apparently sweet potatoes are paleo while white and others are not. They are still high in carbs, and the glycemic index point has been brought up as well. however, i also found this:

"What is true is that potatoes contain anti-nutrients like saponins that can be harmful, while sweet potatoes don’t contain those substances"

    another,

"Sweet potatoes are different from potatoes in that they do not contain several harmful substances such as saponins and lectins, which may increase your intestinal permeability (if consumed regularly) and rev-up your immune system". (Lectins is also why I was told legumes and beans are not paleo as well..)

I wouldn't think twice about these minute details, with the exception of contest prep (even then, close to contest). No appreciable difference as far as we're concerned.
