This is VERY good advice and something I just learned a hard lesson about. Just read "Bigger, Leaner, Stronger" by Michael Mathews, who advocates heavier weight with less reps. Lots of research and it sounded good to me so I figured I'd give it a try. Result: Immediately inflamed an old injury ("golfer's elbow), and needed several visits to the chiropractor over a few weeks for my back. Then I came down with the flu. Coincidence? I don't think so. I'm in my 60s and I have to realize that I just can't make my body do what guys in their 20s and 30s can do. Sitting home with the flu gave me the opportunity and time to think about this and realize how arrogant I was. We just have to respect our bodies.
