Good read. I get my morning carbs then pre and post but I always find myself still trying to cram 150 grams or so toward the evening.

If you’re a male over 12% bodyfat, female over 20% bodyfat, chances are you’re insulin resistant. Drinking carbs in the form of juices, powders, etc, isn’t a good idea.
This guy clearly have some issues. No way to take anything he is writing very serious.

Just curious why you say this? He does have an incredibly scientific approach to what he does. He damn near trains in a laboratory full of exercise scientists.

Also there are plenty of others on this forum who take his advice very serious.

Look at the quote that Tarmy posted. The guy is basically saying if a man is over 12% BF then he is diabetic. That's a retarded statement.

I don't think he's insinuating this honestly. An individual could have less than desirable insulin sensitivity without being diabetic but I understand what he meant now.

Normally I balance my meals out fairly even, but on a cut I like to get my starchy carbs in early in the day then eat mostly meat and veggies later in the day.

Yep, I need those carbs at night time. Cutting or bulking I have a chunk of carbs in my last meal of the day. Mostly because I train in the morning and can't stomach/don't have time to down anything too carb heavy before I work out (I do take a protein blen and a small amount of powdered oats about an hour before I lift). 2 other reasons are that I hate going to bed hungry and, actually, I notice no difference in body composition whether I eat carbs late or not.

Congrats on the red too buddy

It can be a good approach for people like me who train early in the morning. However, his rule set is somewhat rigid for the aforementioned trainee; carb consumption around the workout window still makes the most logical sense to me. We fuel our activity with energy ... carbs (fats to a lesser extent). We also refuel with energy ... carbs again. If nothing else, pre/post workout meals having the highest concentration of daily carbs just makes sense.

100% agree, I often have to consume carbohydrates early in the morning because of PT for the Army, I just posted this cuz I think they are easy and good rules for the majority of people.

A good combination, one I plan to play with a bit soon, is a 'high' carb preworkout meal the evening prior, then a regular 'high' carb PWO meal as I would usually do.

For years, I've been eating before I train, but that gives me an hour to digest, at best. My preworkout meal isn't whey protein and simple carbs, so 1 hour isn't optimal in terms of putting those calories to good use. I'm thinking I'll load up the night before, train 'fasted' in the am (knowing I've built quite the reserve from the evening prior), and then have my PWO meal which will hopefully be slightly more effective, and necessary, considering it's not nutrition on top of nutrition from only a couple hours before.

    We'll see!

I'm on the Primal diet "raw food" as of now 50/30/20 fat/protein/carbs. I will up carbs on my workout days before heavy lifting. Keeps me super lean and burns my fat. Cheers.
