Obtaining a True TRT script

So, I have been "on" for quite some time. With no plans to permanently come off(a TRT dose anyway). I will be getting a quality insurance plan shortly through work.

My question is, what is the best way to obtain a script for real pharmaceutical test for my TRT? I have no plans to cycle with it, I just want quality non UGL test I can stay on without worrying about the little extra shit the UGL stuff may contain.


Even if I have to pay for the test itself out of pocket, it's no biggie. I want to drop to a true TRT dose compared to running what I have been.


I just can't see it being a good idea being on UGL test for very long extended periods of time.


I can't really see how to present this to a new MD.


What I have thought of so far, is to come off completely & just let my test bottom out. Tell them I am feeling like complete shit, my dick don't work & ask them to request BW.

Make an appointment at a local HRT clinic. They specialize in this. That way you don't have to try and convince your regular doc.

^^^^^^Million dollar advice right there! No lying, no BS no nothing, you can be completely honest if you wanted or just tank your T levels. Personally I would just be straight with them, they don't care, they only care to have your business so why put yourself thru feeling like shit?
Just tell them you want to do this the "right" way because you know it is for life. Then if you want 6 months down the road you can go to your own GP for ins purposes and now you will have a legitimate paper trail. If he wants you to stop and try a re-start, you can always go back to the clinic!

Quality responses right there. If you want to try a Dr through insurance you are going to have to make some calls and ask questions. That may take some time and you're going to have to come off for proper blood work . The plus it will be covered by insurance and you can get test with coupon as 2Sox said. That is what I do. Option 2 is go to your local trt clinic and start right away, then go to a Dr from your insurance with a set protocol. The downside is it will cost you more money that way. Either way in the long run you'll get off the ugl stuff. Lastly, participate in this forum and educate yourself , that is your best weapon in this fight. Lots of good and knowledgeable folks here to help.

Locate a compounding pharmacist in your area and ask if they fill Test/hormones for TRT. If positive, then ask them for a referral to a competent Doc in your area. In fact, ask for a couple names as most wont be competent. You can always walk into your local CVS or Walgreens and ask to speak with the (guy) Pharmacist (during non-busy hours) and ask him the same thing. Your regular GP may also be able to refer you too. I wouldnt explain that your self-dosing though. You dont want this on your medical record. I see that your in AZ, I've heard there's many clinics out there from forum members here...

I went to trt clinic got on and then went to GP and told him hey I just moved here and had been onTRT but I'm out and he just wrote a my RX... Lol, complete BS but I didn't have insurance at the time and just paid out of pocket was like 50$ @ cvs... Did this until I found a source...

I am in AZ - But, the clinics here aren't all what they are cracked up to be. I am in no position to throw down a 200 Dollar bill a month.

The clinics here from everything I have heard(and I hear a lot) sign you up on a weekly schedule where you come in & get spiked in the office for 25 Bucks. Again - Not in the position or want any part of that.


I will have high quality insurance here shortly & the only damn thing I want is a script for test. But, apparently it's not that easily obtainable.

Actually ugl is way cheaper.. Is it worth it? Naw but still 200$ is ALOT.

Well, not really - but, after talking to one guy who knows a guy that might be able to get some shit. I have a pretty solid on legit overseas HG test. Not too cheap, compared to the UGL shit I have been getting, but not even close to no 200 a month, unless maybe I'm using 2+ G's a week

Do you currently have a primary care physician? If so, you're best option is to do what you already said and let yourself come off long enough to tank your levels. Then make an appointment with your doc and give him a list of low T related symptoms (which will actually be true at that point) and ask for some blood tests. Once you have blood work to do for low T, be prepared that he may or may not want to do further tests to determine the reason for low T. Honestly though, most docs are relatively quick to write trt scrips, so if you don't push for more tests it will probably be a quick step to start trt. From there it will be up to your doc if he feels comfortable treating you or wants to refer you to a specialist like an Endo or urologist. Be prepared to be doing regular blood work for at least the first year on trt. You'll need to stick to your script and nothing else or risk losing trt if blood work comes back funky because you messed with your dose. If all goes well, you'll reach a point about a year in at which blood work drops to only every 6 months and if you want to blast in between its up to you. I know you've been on a long time so I agree that getting set up with legit trt is a safer idea in the long run. The next few months may be a little tough while you get things started, but I think you're on the right track. Good luck.

My only concern is that most MD's don't want to prescribe TRT due to liability reasons on their part.

As with everything, it varies from Dr to Dr. In my case, getting prescribed was a smooth easy process, but not all are so lucky I guess. If you have a few options for pcp's, call them all and talk to the receptionists. Tell them your looking for a new Dr and that you have some concerns about possible low testosterone and ask if the Dr. has experience with treating it. You should be able to get a feel for whether the office seems open to it before even going in.

They're out there... But I'm having the exact problem! Are you lookin to work w/someone one on one(as I would) I've found plenty of places that do it... But still won't cover it(& I have Gov't Ins.)...

It really isn't right when Dr's have no problem prescribing women their hormones(after menapause) but having low t can lead to andropuase... Yet it's still this difficult... I actually called a compounding pharm today and he wouldn't even provide me w/Dr's in the area!

That is a good one, though(BCBS)... It really does seem that way... At least for me as well... It sucks but I'm not givin into a clinic yet(as its a total bullsh*t),

Honestly though, I too gotta get this sh*t figured out asap! It's so damn frustrating trying to deal w/some of these doc's(supposedly specialists) & we'll go in there knowing more about how this works than them!

Nothing wrong with using UGL test for long periods of time, ive done it most of the time for over 3 years and had no problem, altho i have a script for HG also, but its much more regulated here in OZ.

If you are using a top quality UGL, and by top quality i mean having lots of reviews speak good of them with no ill ones then you shouldnt have a problem.


Samson why not just stick to a high quality UGL that everyone rates and stick to that? I mean you cant really complain ab out prices, if you want someone to complain then im happy to complain as you Americans have it MUCH cheaper for steroids over there than we do.



It just seems to me you are going to be going thru a lot of headfks to get HG test when you can just stick to a good quality UGL that you will MOST likely see no difference, i see no difference or feel no difference on my HG vs my UGL i use.

After some fairly extensive work I cam to a conclusion: I will never get a script(unless I get a juicer homey referral), most BW will still be out of pocket, only HG test will need to be used for my TRT(cycles, well - I can use whatever & hope for the best), HG test will have to come from overseas from a trusted source(so it's not counterfeit garbage), all other supplementing meds(Ai, HCG) will still also be out of pocket.


And this is still cheaper than buckling to a clinic.

UG is crap & all the more reason to find a competent Doc and utilize insurance to the max possible. There are many here using their insurance and it covers most every med & BW, except (very often) HCG. Yet I've even heard of this being covered by some plans. I know both Oxford & Cigna cover a lot of the costs, but they often require prior authorizations on some meds. You have to be creative & put in the work...

Dont know on the Medicare bud, but it's def worth some phone calls on your part. Put it this way, I've never been denied a medical necessity claim that was filed by my PCP so I cant see it being different with Medicare. Who knows, but you have to try it though right? Cigna is a health plan just like Oxford. Their prescription plan is through CVS Caremark.

Insurance at least on my account covers BW and Dr visits. Most don't cover test and less hcg. However test can be gotten for $45 a 10 ml bottle , hcg can be gotten for about the same. I would go to a clinic to get started and I'm sure you can find a Dr in a month.

I too have to start looking for a good doctor, I am in Canada so it is a bit different than the US. It just seems like an overwhelming task to find a doctor without all the bullshit attached.

If you don't mind staying on the ugl then take your time and find a Dr while on the ugl stuff. Try contacting a local compounding pharmacy and ask them which Drs are prescribing hcg and test.
