Sounds like some type of subluxation or nerve impingement which can cause inflammation. I'd see a good chiropractor if you can. One that does limbs. Know that many bad backs can be aggravated / caused by weak abs or tight hamstrings. With me it's always tight hamstrings. My chiro would say if the exercise doesn't aggravate it, go ahead and do it. When the inflammation subsides hopefully the muscles in the area will relax and allow the impingement to cease. When you cough or sneeze does it hurt?
