    Working in hotels

So I'm graduating next week with a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management.

    Currently looking for jobs/advice.

I'm looking in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and I'm pissed because the two places that I've spoken to want to pay me 13/hr. **** that. I'm 27 years old, have that degree and also a 2-yr Associates degree in business mgnt, and 15 yrs of experience in hospitality/customer service.

So do any of you guys out there work in hotels? Advice for a new college grad looking for hotel work?

I'm looking for front office supervisor position, but I only have 3 months experience with an internship in a resort. That's my only real hotel experience. But still....right?

Maybe I just have to suck it up and be poor for a year until I have that experience and can move onward and upward with better hotels? Am I gonna be poor forever working in hotels?

Thanks for listening and letting me vent.

If your passion is for hotels then you should buy a hotel. Something small to get your self started then you will be on your way

    Dude that would be awesome.

I truly feel like I could do it. I'm focused on abiding by the vision, mission and core values, and ensuring that employees are appreciated. I could do it. I understand how to differentiate and maintain competitive advantages by doing so.

Put out your resume and don't give up. When I worked in the Middle East I noticed a lot of the really nice places had Expat management. They were mostly from the UK but that is just a detail. Don't limit yourself. Set the bar high and don't be deterred by anything. If you chose this path you have a passion for it. A lot of people lack the passion these days.

I don't thinking you're swinging too much for the fences here. But that being said also apply for lower positions as well. At least then you'll have a job so you can continue looking for a management job.

Sales. Start at entry position trying to book parties.

Wife does it now. Never worked at a hotel before within 6 week was promoted. She books parties of 100 or more. That's all. Gets contract signed. Once that's done. Someone else takes over the party

Yes... Well maybe not poor, but definitely not rich. If you work you dont have time to get rich.

Try to get on with Marriot. Almost all management positions are filled from within the company and they won't even consider someone without a degree
