5 weeks into Test. Cyp injections-not feeling different?

Hello everyone,

I am 5 weeks into my TRT and am not noticing any results. I am injecting 100mg of test cypionate once a week and taking 25mg of Clomid daily, as prescribed by my physician. I was hoping after a month I would notice an increase in energy and libido, but I am not. I am not even noticing feeling different during the time that should be the 'peak' of my dose.

My original blood work showed the following:
Free testosterone- 59.7 pg/mL with a reference range of 47.0 pg/mL-244 pg/mL
Total testosterone- 227 ng/dL with a reference range of 300 ng/dL-1080 ng/dL
Prolactin- 13.7 with a reference range of 2.1 - 17.7

I am also being treated for high cholesterol with Nyaspan and high blood pressure with Metoprolol Tartrate.

My physician wanted me to try this TRT for 3 months and then get blood work done again on the day before my injection and the day after my injection. Should I just hold out for the next two months and continue the treatment as my doctor prescribed, or should I schedule an appointment and see if he would increase my dosage? I would imagine he'd probably want to do the blood work before any dosage increase, but if I'm supposed to be feeling the effects of this already but am not, then I might as well get the blood work re-done now.

What are your opinions on this? Am I expecting too much too soon, or are my concerns worth bringing to my doctor before the 3 months is over?

100 mg will only bring about natural levels so on that dosage you will just feel normal

5 weeks isn't long enough IMO to feel noticeably better. Not sure what your symptoms were before.

I started feeling all around better about life after around the 10-12 week mark. I also was eating better and working out. To add to djgreen's comment about feeling normal. That is really what you are after. I felt like a normal person, not a middle aged person. I had a better outlook on life, felt hornier, and just an all around better mmod. Some forget what normal is supposed to feel like.

Doc didn't mention anything about HCG to keep your testes functioning normally? That may be something to enquire about. Not sure how the clomid works, I always used anastrozole when I needed it but have changed up my TRT to eliminate that ai all together.

A more seasoned member will know more about the clomid.

clomid is used for PCT on a steroid cycle to stimulate natural test production , A normal doctor usually has no idea how to properly do TRT because it is not taught in med school. my guess would be that he is trying to prevent testicular hypertrophy with it, which is shut down of natural production of testosterone in the testicles

Didn't we speak of this in another thread Apollo? Clomid at the same time as test injections is pointless. It will not stimulate or even maintain any LH function while on Test. You need to be patient. Some guys will feel a difference in a few months, others may take up to a year to dial in.

When it comes to taking 100 mgs per week that's a normal starting dosage. Always best to titrate up than down. Easier to manage sides this way as well. Where you land with total test and free test is up to your metabolism. I run my TRT around 60mgs twice per week. This keeps me in the 1400-1500's with free T a bit over the top of range. My point, one size does not fit all.

Stay the course and evaluate after your upcoming BW. In the meantime, keep reading and learning here!

Good point from kelkel, the clomid truly is pointless here. Unless you have gyno it doesn't help to basically anything, but at worst it can increase the amount of circulating estrogen making you feel worse. If you have gyno then there could a place for clomid in trying to decrease the glands.

I'd say stop the clomid now and see how you feel in few weeks. Clomid has a half-life of 5-7 days, so it takes a couple of weeks to be cleared out of your system.

Like Kelkel said, maybe tirate up your dose a bit and go from there. It took me a year and something to feel stable to find my dose. So be patient. One thing I noticed you mentioned that you are taking a high blood pressure meds. Could these be Beta blockers? Those tend to kill libido. That could be a partly be a side effect of high blood pressure meds. I may be wrong , if so ,please someone correct me. Sent from my iPhone using Forum

Yes we discussed the Clomid in another thread. I was hesitant to stop it but I will give it a shot. I can just stop it cold turkey, no need to take half for a while and gradually reduce it down? I am taking a beta blocker, but it is a very low dose. I never associated it with libido issues before-I guess I just figured my 'normal' range of testosterone at age 29 would come along with more libido. I will stay patient and see what my 3 month checkup/blood work shows. Thanks for the input guys

How much are you paying per month for your TRT? Just curious, for a 100% flat $199 a month LowT will get you hooked up with a proper doc who knows the right protocol. This is your health and well being, I honestly wouldn't mess around with a doc who doesn't know much about what your body really needs. With your TRT (test only) injections without HCG and an ai I can promise you that you will get testicular shrinkage and possibly dull ache in the testes and your estrogen will most likely be elevated.

Just saying, if a doc doesn't know TRT he will bounce you back and forth on guesses and after a year you will still be as lost as you are today. That's just my .02, take it however you want.

OP should question your Doc's choice of using Metoprolol (Lorpressor) as a BP Med. Unless your specific condition requires the use of a Beta Blocker, it's a good idea to avoid it as they (Beta Blockers) can contribute to ED and significantly slow your heart rate. There are newer/better products available to control BP, but again it depends on your circumstances...
