51 is not very high. 55 is where I'd be really worried. If it's climbing, then you need to have a double RBC performed, or at least a whole blood donation. It won't go down unless you let it out. Also make sure you're hydrated properly.
And yes, high altitude, sleep apnea and anything else that would cause oxygen deprivation can contribute to high rbc.
So true, and it starts an endless loop without donation. Lower O2, body makes more red blood cells, circulation becomes less efficient, lower O2, body makes more red blood cells, etc.
I was in the 52-53% range prior to any TRT and struggle to keep it in that range even with regular donatiins, self phlebotomies, therapeutic draws.
