Storing gear and ancillaries

For those of you guys with young kids - how do you store your gear and ancillaries? I was thinking of picking up a small locking safe. Maybe something the size of a large shoebox. Open to recommendations...

Keep it secure at room temp away from the sunlight

That is exactly what I keep my gear in. ( locking box ) Additionally, as stated above, a cool room temperature place is ideal. It's obviously dark inside the lock box.

Thanks fellas. I think I'll pull the trigger on this safe I was eyeing up and make a spot for it in my closet, away from any heating vents.
