393 test for 19 years old (with gyno?)

So 3 weeks ago, i got a lump under my nipple and it happened out of nowhere with no prior symptoms. (Never have cycled or ran any hormones). I got it a few days after shaving and I figured it was a swollen lymph node or some ingrown hair. But it hasn't left yet and I want to start my first test cycle soon so I got my blood test done. Thye haven't mailed me the copy but I called and got these levels:

Testosterone: 393 (wtf). free test is 56.6 and bioavailable is 118.8.
Estrogen: 30
Thyroid: 4.86 (slightly high)


I know the range is technically normal for test and estrogen but my estrogen is on the higher side while my test is on the lower side. I figured that the androgen ratio isn't balanced so maybe I did get gyno? I can't tell if it's a gyno lump or something else related to shaving. I got an ultrasound and they said it could be some benign node or slight gyno. I have aromasin and will have letro on hand when I start my cycle.


Are those results normal for a 19 year old? I always have had trouble putting on muscle and now I got a lump out of nowhere.

I don't have the actual lab report yet but range appears to be .5-4 normally. I'm aware it's high but I'm more concerned about the possible gyno that I may have. It's ovular and about a centimeter long. I'm not sure whether to run nolva or letro and taper off with nolva for it.

Get your lab work and post it. Your T is low for your age and hypothyroidism "may" be the culprit. Know that the current best range for TSH is .3 to 3.0, and anything over 2 should be investigated. An example of good BW to get is in the Finding A Doc sticky at the top of this forum.

And don't even consider cycling at your age. Lets get your endogenous T levels straightened out and you'll feel brand new.

I don't have hypo, it's hyperthyroidism. My levels are above 3, they're 4.86. I never knew hyperthyroidism could cause low test. I don't eat much salt (iodine) in my diet except cottage cheese. Probably get 60% of my daily value so I figured that could be it but it was just slightly over the range. Doctor told me it was still fine. I don't think it'd be related to the test levels.

You probably have HYPO not hyper.
Your TSH level of 4.86 is indicative of your thyroid not producing enough T4. Thus you would be hypo.
You really need a complete thyroid panel to tell for sure.

Oh, I see. I really don't have any symptoms of hypothyroidism, I'm way more suceptible to heat and my heart rate is high and metabolism is through the roof. I'll look into it but the doctor said it was slightly high and no further action was needed yet.

As for estrogen levels, is a level of 30 naturally normal? I have a lump under my nipple on the right and I can't tell if it's gyno. Could I get gyno with those levels?

What the hell do you mean you don't have symptoms of hypothyroidism? Your T is barely in range and hypothyroidism causes hypogonadism. Your doctor is not up on thyroid issues otherwise he'd be ordering further testing.

My doctor also tested for LH and FSH, I'll ask for those results tomorrow. I thought hypogonadism was caused by irregularities in LH and FSH but I'll consult him when he's back from his vacation.

So solving the hypothyroidism should solve the hypogonadism? This is usually solved through thyroxine, right?

The thyroid should definitely be your primary concern, and don't go by typical online symptom lists to decide. For example, I'm hypo and at the time I was diagnosed I was very physically active, 170lbs with good strength and low body fat....but my tsh was over 7 which is way out of line. Don't ignore it. My doctor believes my thyroid may have been off for several years before it was found, which after ruling out other factors we believe was the cause for my low T. My T did not bounce back with thyroid treatment (hence trt). I was in my 30's when I found out. At your age you have a better chance of bouncing back naturally if you start now. Keep us posted.

I completely agree, at 19 you are way too young to cycle without a docs monitoring. You test is lower, but you could mess it up for life, stunt your growth, and give yourself health probs for life. It's a mistake to cycle when your not done growing.

You know, hyperthyroidism is nothing to sneeze at. It makes you lose your muscles. It's catabolic.
