    RIP Rowdy Roddy Piper

'Rowdy' Roddy Piper -- Dies at 61 from Cardiac Arrest | TMZ.com

    Wiki:

Roderick "Roddy" George Toombs (April 17, 1954 – July 30, 2015), better known by his ring name "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, was a Canadian professional wrestler, film actor, and podcast host. In professional wrestling, he was best known for his work with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). Although he was Canadian, due to his Scottish heritage he was billed as coming from Glasgow in Scotland and was known for his signature kilt and bagpipe entrance music. He earned the nickname "Rowdy" by displaying his trademark "Scottish" rage, spontaneity and quick wit. Despite being a crowd favorite for his rock star-like persona, he often played a villain. Aside from his ring name, he was also known by the nickname "Hot Rod".

Question....all these wrestlers passing. I see most are heart attacks.

Are they related to reckless "abuse"? I know we can't say for sure but whether it be AAS, drugs or alcohol...

He wasn't a big guy, I doubt AAS usage. But painkillers are rampant in WWE (like any other contact sport) and could very well have played a role. Or maybe just some bad luck?

Seems rock stars are living longer than actors and wrestlers. Couldn't begin to name all the actors from my era that kicked the bucket.

I know right? I was at an Alice Cooper and Motley Crue concert last week and was thinking how good these guys look for being in their 60s and all the drugs they did.

Maybe it's preserving them and isn't so bad for you? LoL

He got in reasonable shape at one point in his career during the 90's briefly. But yeah, he was a major drug addict and alcoholic for a good part of his career.

His biggest problem was that his prime was in an era where wrestling was getting taken over by very big guys. He never really had to size to measure up to somebody like Hogan.

Your right I forgot about the alcohol, he was never very healthy, you could see it out there. He was athletic at all.

I'm actually kind of surprised he made it to 61. People who drink and do drugs as much as he did it, usually die all too young and tragic (and in the wrestling world, the blame is put on AAS instead of the pain killers, muscle relaxer, rec drugs and alcohol that they all abused to epic levels).

It's definitely running rampant(PKs and muscle relaxers drinking etc) it's usually the combo from them all... Pain killers are actually the easiest on your body in comparison to alcohol and various other rec drugs... But I'm surely not saying it's good for anyone... Yeah there's circumstances that come into play - but the abuse catches up quick... And can lead to an outta control downward spiral...

    RIP RRP!

Eh, I heard before the amount of PKs and muscle relaxers some of these guys were taking on a daily basis before. These guys were popping somas and vicodins as if they're candies and then washing them down with flasks of booze... Everyday. And on top of that, they were doing a lot of rec drugs.

But it goes to their lifestyle. Their line of work leaves them in constant pain and the loneliness of being on the road gets to them. They could either be alone in their hotel room or they could go out and party.
