Advice talking to gp

So I go to a clinic for trt and am not happy about it. Since I am already on trt I figured I'd go to the gp and give it a shot. I have all my bw to give them and I'm hoping they can just give me a script to do everything at home.

Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? I have appointment next week. I am currently 130 1xper week. No hcg or ai. I want them to give me rx for 200mg test cyp per week, hcg 500iu per week and ai just to have on hand. I already take dim to control e2. I won't take 200 per week just want to have the extra. I'm not dialed in with dosing yet tho. Currently 130 for 3 weeks after 8 weeks at 80mg per week and test dropped. I'm thinking 150 split 75 2x per week with 250iu of hcg. This will also help with e2 control as my weight comes down. What you guys think?

I switched out from a T clinic to a GP earlier this year. It was pretty straight forward. I had all my labs and established protocol, so it was an easy transition. I ended up saving a ton of cash.

I doubt you'll have much luck with a normal doc just writing you a script for 200mg test/week if your labs & protocol don't justify it. HCG is iffy with a lot of docs. Some will prescribe it, some wont. Those who will, should have no problem with 500IU 2 x week. AI is pretty much standard with any doc prescribing test. You might have better luck if you get your protocol established at the clinic first, and then switch it over. Clinics tend to be more liberal, within reason.

While not entirely unheard of, I don't think you should hold your breath that your GP is going to be on board with prescribing all of the things you mentioned.

There are very few doctors, not associated with an anti aging clinic, that routinely prescribe all of the medications that you listed. Sure, there are some, but they're difficult to find. It's hard enough finding a doctor that knows how to correctly dispense testosterone, let alone hCG and an AI.

I've been with my GP for like 15 years. He's an awesome guy and a brilliant doctor. But if I approached him with this type of suggestion he'd probably laugh at me.

My advice would be to tread lightly when broaching the topic. Most doctors don't enjoy being told how to practice medicine. Nor do they like writing prescriptions just because a patient wants them to.

Maybe you could explain your situation to him and ask if he has any experience with TRT. His response will probably be enough for you to gauge his level of interest in hearing what else you have to say.

I'm a patient with the site sponsor and I couldn't be happier with them. I realize that not all clinics are even remotely similar, but LowT.com is proof that there are quality clinics out there.

Chauffer's response is an excellent one. I agree that you really need to establish a relationship and have a rapport with a doctor before you can ask for the things you want. Also, the more you show your MD that you're educated about TRT, the more you will be trusted and the more likely your requests will eventually be met. It'll take a little time but it happens.

Agree with the other guys, no doctor is going to approach this as you've described in your OP. If your blood and symptoms call for 200mg then maybe he'll write it. If you actually need an AI maybe he'll write it but "to keep on hand" that would assume you have the ability to measure E2 levels by closing your eyes. Unlikely he'll write that any more than he'd write an RX to treat rabies just in case you're bitten by a rabid dog down the road.

The one thing many often forget is most doctors are going to approach TRT just like they do every other area of medicine, and that's not a bad thing.

Ok thanks for the replies. I'll breach the subject of trt to start. The office manager did say they do trt and even give shots in the office so I'm hoping they have some modicum of understanding about hormones. Ill update when after appointment.

Update:

So I had a meeting with the nurse practitioner A week ago and she said she would prescribe me testosterone but wouldn't let me take it home. So after speaking with her for little while and she realized that I knew what I was talking about she recommend me see the doctor in the office because she would have to make that decision. Honestly I made the appointment to see the doctor not a nurse practitioner anyway.

So today I went to the doctor and spoke to her about treatment and options and taking it home. She was totally receptive to the idea she had no problem with that at all I have to get some new blood work for her to decide the dose and I go back on Monday. From there on out it will be every three months to go to the office get my prescription and get blood work done. Considering the prescription cost $16 per month it's a huge savings for me financially I was paying $25 a week.

I do have a few questions, she will probably end up prescribing me 200 mg a week she wanted to do every other week but I told her that would work and she said it was fine. They won't prescribe a multidose vial so we will be individual 200 mg vials. I'd like my protocol to be 75 mg two times per week so if I have 50 left over per week how do I store it or what can I do with it so I don't waste it? Also since this first visit went so well I didn't want to ruin it by asking about hCG so I will do that on the follow up on Monday. What do you guys think?
