I agree. Breakfast is literally to the word, it is when you break the fast of sleeping. This is prime time to refuel your body from the long hours spent without fuel. Any carbs in the protein shake will be quickly turned to available glucose for immediate use because your body is coming off a hard fast, but the proteins aren't going to magically transform into glucose. This is especially so if you are recovering from a workout the day prior. Your body spent the entire night growing, and you need to replace the protein stores so it can continue to do so.
This is also why complex carbs make up an important part of a breakfast, your body needs the fuel to reignite your metabolism for the day.
