It has been quite a long time...

    Hello all,
It has been years since I have stopped by this wonderful forum!
I have my PhD, I am an associate professor, and I have a family.
Enough about all of that, I am still training and making improvements.
I am standing at 5'9" and weighing in at 208lbs.
I have become more of an athlete than a bodybuilder over the past few years, but I remain committed to fitness at all levels. Weightlifting is still my favorite activity and I've even gained some interest from my son, who is only 4, but enjoys trying pullups with his dad.

I hope my old school friends are doing well, and that new found talent here at the forum is stronger than ever!

I hope to stick around and educate myself with all of the wonderful new info and members here and also contribute as I can.

Thanks for the well wishes, all.
Bartman, I have collaborated on research that was interested in discovering various ways a healthcare consumer may use health-related information in their everyday life. I created a few categories that are federally mandated into data sets including "preventative care" and "disease management" that include diet and exercise programs; in which I greatly promoted strength training and diet planning into those areas of the personal health record.
I thought of the forum as I was performing content analysis for respondents.

I am an educator now, but one of the courses I teach is pathophysiology & pharmacology and we talk about Testosterone, SERMs, and AIs more than we "have to" during those classes.

novastepp. it's great you found a way to connect the two. i have a phd in engineering, and have worked in industry for 25 years. i haven't (yet) found a way to connect the two. i started lifting for sports in the late 70's, and had a couple of buddies die in the 90's both from heart attacks - i suspect AAS abuse.

as i re-engaged with serious lifting about 10 years ago (and joined this forum a couple of years ago), i've been amazed at the level of knowledge that has been amassed about nutrition, supplements, and the workouts themselves. it's incredible how sophisticated it can be if taken seriously (and it can also now be done SAFELY). keep the education (and research hopefully) going!

    Oi Oi in deed!

You all are the true beasts around here. I simply enjoy lending a hand for everyone to unleash their true potential. I have chosen to dedicate the majority of my time to other pursuits, but I still work my ass off to reach lifting and training goals.

Most recently I have decided that I want to work toward a 600lb deadlift and be able to run a mile in the 6 minute range... In the same day.

I cannot deadlift 600lbs nor run a 6-minute mile, but I'm working on it.

My deadlift is 535 and my mile time is somewhere near an eternity; honestly 7:48.

Oh, and being 5'9, weighing roughly 210lbs and having abs in your 30s is pretty awesome too!

Incidentally, hit a PR today with my deadlift, and got 565! I was totally feeling the music and my 495 went off for 3 with no hesitation. So I threw on the 35s and got it! Had a slight case of the deadlift shake, but it went up smoothly.

Freaking dead now though. Literally still sitting in my basement, afraid to walk up the stairs. Can't even get to the PWO! Haha

    Thanks!

I've been making slow n' steady progress on the big lifts all year. Its hard work and I have changed my training to incorporate more warm ups and feeler sets for the deadlift. I mean if I hit it right, pullups, bench press, rows, squats, or deadlifts can be nearly the entire damn workout!

Haha -- right?! I'm hoping to find an old BIB post that's like "Hey guys, newbie here. I'm about 25% looking to get down to maybe 18%. Should I do Tren by itself?"
