    Help with chicken please

Am I right in thinking its best to weigh your chicken breast raw? I've been reading a few other posts saying they weigh cooked. Also getting mixed signals on the nutrient intake of a 170gram piece of chicken.
I was under the opinion that it was 187 gram of calories, 39 gram protein, 2 grams fats. Hoping someone can clear this up for me?

    Thanks

I believe since 2012 packaged meat's nutritional information is listed as raw and the label must provide calories, grams of total fat and saturated fat based on the serving size. If your from the U.S.

The most accurate way is to measure it raw

I get my chicken in a 5kg batch from butchers so don't get a nutritional intake onit. Been trying to research but getting all mixed signals on how to determine the values. Does 170 gram chicken breast have 187g calories, 39 g protein, and 2g fats roughly?

It depends on the laws of your country. In the U.S food that is sold must abide by Title 21 CFR. I'm sure what ever country you live in has a similar regulation that mood producers have to abide by. The answer is hard to find becuase some countries count the meat raw and some count it cooked. The local butcher shop has a little sticker that prints out when you tell them what you want and it has nutritional info on it. I think that's pretty neat.

    Cooking shrinks meats.

But, really, it doesn't matter whether you measure raw or cooked.

    Pick one.

Go to a nutrition database. Enter the weight in the state you selected.

I use calorie-count for convenience. They list nutrition facts for raw, as well as various forms of cooked.

    No need to overthink it.
