Can you buy the car from a Repo Man in US?

Hi guys,
I am just wondering if it is possible to buy a car from a repo man? For example 2014 GL63 Which is Mercedes Benz with AMG you can purchase around 80K in open market (2014 model). Repo man is asking only 30 K for the same car. Catch is I have to pay him 10 k in advance and he will bring the car to me (that is the part i have problem with). he doesnt like the fact that I want to go there to look at the car (cause he is all over the US) and pay him right there.
Something sounds fishy to me...Any thoughts?

Is it a car that he just repossessed?? If so, it belongs to the lender, who will then auction it off. Pretty sure that you would just be buying a stolen car, since it doesn't belong to the repo guy. If he happens to fall into the second category described in the article below, make sure that he is authorized to resell on the lender's behalf as a middleman.

You should seek out government auctions that sell cars that have been repossessed for non-payment or taken by the police during raids.

You need to have a dealers license to participate in government vehicle auctions and most car auctions for that matter.

Some times they have auctions that are open to the public. I no a guy that got a jeep that way. Only ran for a month or so but yes they have public auctions.

If it was a lender that went bankrupt or bought out and didn't pay tow and storage bill, tow company can put a lien on the car.

But, when it comes to this kind of shit make sure to cover your ass. Clean & clear title in hand, check for leans with the DMV. It's not a typical way of business in most cases.

ANYTIME you have to pay someone up front just turn away. If it was legit he would be fine with getting the payment on delivery.

yeah the first sign was when he HAS to have 10% down and wont tell me where the car is cause i wanted to fly their and have a look at it, so i said **** it.

hahaha, Sometimes I will reply to these fake craigs list or ebay scams just to play with them. They always say they are over seas and it's in another state and will be shipped or whatever excuse but I tell them it's OK because I'm going to that state on business the next day and want to see it. Of course they never respond or I just get an automated response telling me how to send the money. lol

When I'm really bored I respond to those emails from this or that prince, dignitary or attorney who wants to send me millions of dollars just to get them spun up thinking they have a live one on the line. Most of the time I tell them to call me and give them someones number from Home Land Security or the FBI I found online.
