    ***156 members and 22562 guests***

156 members online in this forum and 22562 guests

    Why?

Why are there so many guests who don't post?

If any guests are reading this register and tell us why you don't want to post or why you just lurk?

Do you think we have that many articles and information there is no need to register?

    22562 guest whores!

I always wonder the same question Marcus.

I guess they are worried that some how someone will find out that they are a member of a 'steroid' forum.

I was hesitant to join because I didn't know if my personality would fit. I'm usually just a lurker until recently, but man oh man some forusm are absolutely brutal on new members if they happen to be extremely ignorant. I know that most people probably don't read the "Read before you post!" Stickies, but I've seen some pretty bad badgering before.

Also some member having an avatar with a back the width of a barn doesn't accentuate a nice warm welcome. It would be like watching newcomers at the gym during busy hours and how thy squeamishly wonder from machine to machine, with vigilance of other members possibility watching them. It's like your first time in jail..

Badgering here? Also would you rather get advice from someone with a small back?

It doesnt matter how good looking she is, some where, some one is tired of her shit.

Great place to start researching ! http://forums.steroid.com/anabolic-s...-database.html

I think you nailed it on the last part there Big Guy.
There is so much open info on here just sitting there for anyone to look at and use, they don't really need to ask any questions if they are smart enough to read through it all to find the answers. Pretty much everything has been asked and answered hundreds of times. I know I can find the answer to damn near every question and combination in regards to training, diet and AAS.
Maybe some threads and sections need to be locked out until they are actually registered to encourage less lurking and more joining.

Because someone will type in a question into google and then one of their answers will be linked to a thread on this website on the first page and they'll read it and have their question answered...No need to get a membership for that....

what's the incentive to join? if you don't want to ask questions, you can just lurk and get what you need.

is there a way to incentivize? maybe give guests access to some of the forums...

also, to the owners of the forum, is there some value in increasing membership? if so, i'd be curious what it is.

need to treat this like a business problem. people will do what they want and in the absence of incentives most will just lurk (probably for anonymity wrt illegal substances).

not sure about business part but once you get to know these "meat heads" they become friends for life. I find couple of great guys on here and i can ask the all the questions I want like diet, supplements, workout routines , how fat the chick should be before i say no thank you to her etc.

Just personally what I've observed over the years. This isn't targeting anyone although my wording might make individuals feel targeted. I'm guilty of this as well at times. So with that said:

Some of the vets seem to believe they have this celebrity status because they give out tons of advice or have high post counts. It still puts me off to this day, as if your post count makes you some big shot in the fitness industry. Not sure if this kind of behavior is still occurring because I'm on so little these days, mostly due to my job and the mentality I just mentioned, but it was virtually non existent when I joined originally and then became commonplace about a year later. The arrogance has always surprised me and I know it turns people away. I know this because I've invited people to the forum and they have told me "a lot of the people commenting seem like arrogant assholes".

If your here it's because you volunteer your time to do it. Nobody is forcing you to be here, which brings me to my second point, stop bitching about having to give different people the same advice day in and day out. The people lurking are reading what is said, negativity will solidify them NEVER becoming members. So your exasperated, self important comments are hurting us as a community.

Once again, not targeting anyone in particular. Rant over.

For sure there are pros and cons.

Content only for registered members will reduce page views, but it will increase the registered members numbers.

Hey guys! I hope you all are doing well! I've stopped by to check on things from time to time, but wanted to chime in on this one.

There are several reasons the membership numbers are dropping and the guests continue to stay hight.

    1. The internet is changing and forums all over are dying. Social media has taken over a lot of what forums used to be and people are mostly pre occupied posting images of themselves in instagram, or spend much of their time on Facebook or other social media platforms. HOWEVER, with a topic as underground as Anabolic Steroids, it should not be happening as much to us than it is to the other types of discussion forums.

    2. Users of forums, (unlike many of us older guys) grew up using forums and they know how to search and find the information they want. There has been a million questions asked and answered here in the forum, and there is not much that a person cant find by using the search box. The young guys today, can more often research and find what they want.

    3. **WE SHOULD HAVE MANY MORE MEMBERS** - Why do I think we have less and less members?
I think the common reputation of the Steroid.com forum is that "they are a bunch of dicks" or "those guys seem like they dont really want to help you". Believe it or not, our forums is not one that wraps your arms around a new person and makes them feel comfortable lol! I have been trying to change the unhelpful feeling for years, but this forum seems to have a life of its own and if wants to be more helpful and friendly... it will. Otherwise, we will lose one hell of an asset to the Anabolic World.

When you were growing up and knew nothing about this mean world, there was someone who you trusted that knew the ways of the world and they helped you and made you feel comfortable asking the "dumb" questions. Those dumb questions helped make you the educated man you are today. If we dont make a new comer feel safe, he is just going to do some reading and move on. Its really that simple.

    4. Making people register to see forums WILL increase the number of members online, but will our "Membership" keep them here after they create and account and find the info they need? Probably not. If we want to increase membership AND have 30,000 visitors lurking at a given time, this forum HAS to find a way to be more helpful and accommodating to the YOUNG.

Lets face it, if we dont change, this forum will be nothing but a place to search information and the membership will be nearly dead. If that happens, I predict the forum will start back over with the younger generation and the cycle may repeat itself.... "Helpful and Strong Community Values" and then once the click forms, the reputation will switch to "Arrogant and Unhelpful".

This is YOUR Anabolic Brotherhood guys.... If you want it to be a strong community of Anabolic Brothers and Sisters, you need to make it a place where people are PROUD to join. Right now, the word on the street is that we are a bunch of assholes that make people feel stupid. Thats not me saying that, thats people I've met all over the country saying that.

BTW, its not the people that JOIN as a member that say those things.... its the people who came to LURK and decided that this is not something they felt comfortable joining.

I LOVE our Forum and our amazing members, but if you guys want this to change for the better, its on you. Steroid.com isnt going anywhere, but our active membership may turn into a ghost town unless we do something about it.

    One more thing to add:

I have started one of the MOST AMAZING Fitness Communities in the World: FitnessModels.com

In only a few short months, we have had more than 1000 of the worlds most dedicated fitness athletes join this community and the reputation is getting stronger and stronger throughout the industry for being the most "positive" and "supportive" community every created for athletes.

I am telling you this to help you guys understand what I have seen while building another community (like we did for steroid.com) but for high level fitness athletes. The world has changed guys.... The people of today have 10,000 choices in which to spend their time online. The reason people are choosing to spend their time at fitnessmodels.com is because EVERYONE is there to help, support, encourage and interact with like minded people. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT STEROID.COM SHOULD BE DOING.

If we changed our attitude around here and it went from unhelpful and unfriendly, to something much more positive (like we were 8 years ago).... This place would FUKIN EXPLODE! I mean the people are here EVERYDAY! They just dont want to be yelled at or made to feel stupid or like a lessor man.

Anyway, the traffic to steroid.com and the forums HAVE NEVER BEEN HIGHER IN HISTORY. Traffic is not a problem, making people comfortable and making them WANT TO JOIN AN AWESOME GROUP of anabolic brothers.... I believe that is the part of the recipe we are missing.

    Stay Strong Guys!!!!!

If we change our ways and start telling people under 25 how to cycle then we will probably double the membership
So, Toss the science and morals out the window and just help people build decent cycles based on their experience OR maintain the course?
What is more important to the forum? Membership or Safety?
We all know these people will most likely find the advice they want on another forum. Do we let them wonder off and join other forums that will tell them that's it's ok to cycle at 19? Or do we take them in and give them the advice here so they feel "comfortable" and "welcome"

I'm not for giving kids cycle advice. Not after learning everything I have during my time here as a member. A few years ago I wouldn't have given a f**k what they wanted to do, now I am aware of the risks associated with it thanks to this place.
