    losing sight of goals.

4 months ago i was a fat overeating slob who got so disguated with himself he dropped 6 pant sizes and went from a XL to medium size shirt. Now that im here, ive become comfortable and lost sight of my goals or cant enforce any NEW goals...
Before id lift with passion and anger from things like people calling me fat to my face, or my girlfriend leaving me...now people treat me differently and ive found someone else too, so nothing nudges me enough from the side to the point where i go to the gym out of sheer rage and black out n lift weights for hours on end like i used to. My dieting has become less calculated and my training is less intense (which might be good considering i was in the gym 7 days a week 3 hours a day)

Ive warned all my friends who also lift to never become comfortable with their progress and never lose sight of their goals, but here i am. I guess my question would be...how do you guys move from goal to goal? What keeps you guys going? I had anger to drive me before , i still do, but nowhere near as intense.

Your completely normal bro, that's just the way things go? I absolutely empathize with your feelings. For me its a time/work thing, Im working long hrs(ironwork) with a long commute so I not working out. it's kinda a cycle of its own so to say...but isn't everything...even life just a cycle repeating itself?

it happens to a lot of us.

looks like you need to set some short term goals or maybe look into some type of competition

competition always drives me to be better than the next person.

you get in what you put in!

We all get burned out every once in a while. The culprit for you just may be the training for 7 days a week at 3 hours per day. How about you cut it back to 4-5 days per week and 1 hour sessions? It's worth a try. We all have different things that motivate us and, often, those motivaters change. For you, it was getting in shape after letting yourself go for a while. Well, in your situation, my goal now would be to put on lean mass...if you're wearing a medium sized shirt, I'm assuming you're pretty small. What keeps me motivated are my strength goals. I always try to be stronger than I was the week before. For example, let's say on my chest day, the week before, I hit 365lbs. for 3 reps on my heavy set. Well, this week I want to make it 370 lbs. for as many reps as I can get (whenever I hit 3 reps on my heavy set, I always increase the weight the next week). I always train like this for all my main lifts (bench, squat, deadlift, shoulder press). I look forward to how much I can lift when I step into the gym. What's good about this, at least for me, is that when my strength goes up, I get bigger as well (I train for both strength and hypertrophy by incorporating both low and high reps throughout my workouts). Most people on here follow a body-building regime, or at least a workout program geared towards aesthetics, and there's nothing wrong with that; whatever your goals are, to each their own. But if you're getting tired of trying to 'look good naked', give the strength approach a try. And as mentioned above by RC, look into competing if you want (doesn't have to be body-building or physique competitions either...try powerlifting, you just may like it).

    Good luck, OP!

As alot of ppl have already said, u need a new goal.

Also maybe u need to take a week off or have a good cheat day that let's u get out of the same old damn routine.

This happens to all of us! Also if u need ppl to call u fat to make u motivated, we can do this. YOUR FAT AND WEAK!lol jk. Don't take that serious!

Well your body is kind of like a classic car in this game. It's a never ending project. You finish one thing only to start another. Your muscle car is never fast enough right? So as soon as you reach your goal your already thinking or have thought of your next goal

One thing that could motivate you is if you stop or stagnate you'll revert to being a fat slob. You'd think that would be motivating but unfortunately for most it's not. The only real way to stay motivate when it comes to going to the gym and eating NOT like a slob is finding something about you like an enjoy. There has to be an enjoyment factor, anger won't last and fuel you forever, it just won't.

You guys are right. My training now is roughly 4-6 days a week for only an hour or 1.5 hrs max. I would love to start a bulk as ive never trained while bulking. Its always been a cycle of getting fat, cutting, stop going to gym , get fat, cut again. Im 190 right now n i fear getting being fat again so thats why im afraid to bulk as of now. As for cheat meals, i eat whatever the hell i want on weekends now but with limits. Weekdays are strict. I guess this is why ive been stuck at a constant 190. Lol. Considering i bulk, what would be the diffrrence if i were to bulk and lift vs bulk and not lift. Aesthetically of course. Considering i eat the same in both scenarios. Its a stupid question but again, ive never bulked.

Depends. Generally whatever i want but its still clean foods like barbeque (pork chicken and beef), protein sludge with lowfat yogurt, cheese, etc. I might even eat less at times. One thing that does concern me is that this past week has been an absolute shiet show with dieting. Ive drank like a fish, and eaten out left and right. I still manage to maintain weight or even go down justtt a little. Is this something to worry about? Also, got recent bloodwork from a general checkup and my TSH is on the lowest end of the normal range. Has all this dieting made it harder for me to gain weight? Or is that even possible?

Are you measuring your food to keep track of your daily macros?

Gosh. This is a flashback. It took me a year or more to see myself differently in the mirror and I also thought ppl where treating me differently. I was so fearful of a relapse it motivated me but I became obsessive.

I did it for health. And then I started doing mud runs and obstacle courses which meant I had to train. Find something to replace the anger. You'll find it... Congrats on your transformation!
