Can anything be transfered via oil?

So after reading about Charlie sheens HIV outcome. I've been researching up on diseases that you would never want to have(HIV hep c) that have no cure or vaccine avaliable and it has got me wondering. They say these are caught via bodily fluids. Semen. Precum. Blood. Sharing needles etc. But what about injecting ugl gear? Can a brewer with HIV or hep c shoot a few drops of blood into his vials. Sell them and when u inject you catch hiv or hep c? Or does the virus die when it hits oil? I know HIv doesn't live long outside of blood(in the open air it dies apparently).

I'm curious that's all. Is there any thing a dirty brewer could contaminate his vials with that would give you something deadly as above. / or do diseases die when in oil/water(what most gear is brewed in)

The BA in the oil should kill most things. And blood doesn't mix with oil. I'd be much more worried about the usual bacteria. And its always a good idea to autoclave all your vials.

Also if I'm not mistaken HIV is very weak outside of the body. Sitting in a pool of blood with air exposure it lives only a few hours. An infectious disease doctor told me once that it's not exactly "easy" to catch. That's not to say it's not easy when an HIV nut bust lands inside you tho lol

Oh, HIV becomes deactivated at first contact with air. I say deactivated because viruses technically are not alive.

HIV lasts outside a host for at most 6 hours... the cold virus lasts longer outside a host. Blood on blood contact is the easiest way for it to spread, such as sharing needles.

Anal sex is another high risk way of infection because the lining of your rectum is thin, so make sure your boyfriend uses a condom.

I think staph would be one of your biggest worries. Especially if it was poorly processed/ not autoclaved. Speakkng form e experience, multiple staph infections in your blood can really screw you up.

Si`. I had to wear a pump on mg side 24/7 for 12 weeks with 2 lines running into my arm and that ended over close to my heart. 2 bags of antibiotics (Nafcillin and one other one) being pumped in 24/7. Had to pick up fresh bags of antibiotics every 2 days or so from the pharmacy.
LOL, they monitored my liver enzymes weekly because of the high doses of antibiotics. Damn stuff had my hair breaking. The wife was afraid I was going to lose my braid. Fortunately, once off the antibiotics, my hair slowly came back to normal.
Of course, that was long ago. Nowadays, I am my normal, stubborn, yet loveable ginger self. (Don't believe all the rumors, us gingers do have a soul).

2 questions for you hazard and bonParte

1( so there is no virus or disease that can be spread thru oil. ?such as when injecting gear?

2( I can basically be rest assured I can't contract a threatening illness from ugl gear? Besidea the stories we here of dirty gear causing abscesses etc

Also what could happen when a brewer doesn't autoclave all the vials?

No, as mentioned Staff is one. I'm sure there are others but the risk is fairly low or you/we would hear about it a lot more. There is always risk with anything, especially UGL gear but I would not sweat it. Dont be a hypochondriac. lol

Sure, you could theoretically contract influenza (or maybe Hep C if done on purpose, but you'd probably notice bodily fluids in the vial) if the guy doesn't use BA. But now we're just being paranoid.

So just don't buy gear from someone who is out to kill you slowly a few decades from now...

MY background is in medicine/ PHD chemistry. Very rare chance of transferring disease. Heat your product if your concerned.

    Good Luck

A lot of misconceptions. A good source that can go over in details chemistry and sterilization process used is a baseline start.

I have been in Medicine for over 25 years. Many misconceptions- Sterilization and proper chemistry procedures are very simple. Any legitimate 100 IQ should be able to figure out the proper process.

Any detailed questions, please reach out to me

    Thanks

    Thx for your candid response!

Some don't live long enough to have wisdom. Some live long but wisdom is cleverly elusive.
