    deadlift , pec pull

    Hello wise gurus and shaman,

While breaking a PR on deadlift, i felt a pull in my pecs next to my armpits afterwards. Is this normal? Does it mean my chest is inadvertently being brought into the movement due to a mistake in form? Should i squeeze my shoulder blades back more?

    Thank you!

When you do DLs EVERYTHING gets used. DLs are really a full body movement that affects every muscle group in the body at some part of the lift. You probably used some poor form or you recently had worked chest. Give it some time to heal and start incorporating stretches and foam rolls between workouts. Use a tennis ball or lacrosse ball on the pecs. The heavier we go up in weight more times than not your form will suffer. Keep your shoulders back and don't let them roll forward when doing DLs. By keeping them back you will minimize the contracting of the pecs and keep the shoulder girdle in a more ergonomic position.
