i'm posting this here in the off chance a number of you are fathers.
i got into this on my own (my dad was not an athlete). i was an athlete in HS and college and then got seriously into training in the mid-eighties. ratchet forward 30 years and i'm still at it, almost as strong and developed as always - but those who follow me know i have various joint issues!)
my son is 15 and a hs wrestler. i haven't pushed him into training because i believe that a your person should pursue their own passions and figure out what works for them. i certainly have exposed him to it and when asked was very supportive by providing information on training, nutrition and whatnot. i'd say he's been dabbling with training to help with wrestling for about the last year.
this morning for the first time ever, we worked out together! it was a great father son experience. today was back/biceps day and my training is HIT using double drop sets for all exercises. to his credit, my son kept up with me and really went to failure like a champ. the weights were different of course and this was his first experience with IT style training. i can't wait to see how he feels tomorrow (and if he'll train with me again! I SURE hope so!!!)!
