Trestelone Acetate (ment) Is it still legal? or is it illegal now?

I was having a discussion with a friend of mine about the legality of MENT (Trestelone Acetate). I remember years ago it was legal, and from what i have read, it still is. By legal I mean it was not a controlled substance like all other steroids. Not legal like you can go buy it at GNC, but still legal for "Research Purposes" However, he said that some law Obama passed last year or something made it illegal. Is this true? I am familiar with the Designer Steroid Control Act of 2014 (HR 4771) that made all those types of products illegal, but i was under the impression that MENT did not fall under that category? Trestelone's legal status would fall under the designer anabolic steroid act of 2012.

If you got charged with possession you'd be looking at a maximum prison sentence of no more than ten years and a fine of no more than $500,000.

The maximums would be different if you were also charged with trafficking as it's a felony.

the verbage of the law grants the DEA "authority" to schedule any drug with a chemically similar nature to testosterone as a controlled substance..

it then says.. according to the link you provided that the act

"Directs: (1) the United States Sentencing Commission to review and amend federal sentencing guidelines with respect to offenses involving anabolic steroids, and (2) the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to report every two years on what anabolic steroids have been scheduled on a temporary basis under this Act."

This implies that the list written above is added to the controlled substance list and that every two years they will review the list and add more.. However, Trestelone (Chemical structure MENT; 7α-Methylnandrolone; 7α-methyl-19-nortestosterone; 17β-hydroxy-7α-methylestr-4-en-3-one) is not on that list. They could add it this year, but as of right no it is not on the list.

My understanding after reading that law, and correct me if I am wrong, is that the law grants the DEA the authority to reschedule any compound that is deemed to meet the criteria laid out in the law. However, it does not mean that any compound automatically is rescheduled. It just says that it CAN BE rescheduled using DASCA.

I appreciate your feedback Numbere, but I think that the link provided does not provide a clear answer to the question. I have read DASCA from front to back and Trest is never mentioned..

My thoughts are that it can be rescheduled at any time, but it is not well known enough to a target, and thus it is surviving (legally) because it is flying under the radar.

i am totally open to any different conclusions or interpretations as long as they are backed up with facts.

well, this sounds too risky to be based on links or opinions regardless what you find, final step, if you're to pull some financial gains from this info is to consult with attorney and get facts out of the water that are valid and up to date so you can plan your next step precisely, and yes, sometimes opportunity to act on things may be there and open but for a short time only.
