hello, I am visiting these forums after a very unpleasant experience with doctor prescribed T4 (hospitalized me) for suspected hypothyroid and pretty much ruined my body and years of drug free progress I had going. at 26 years old, my once exceptionally hard, full and defined muscles seemed to just melt off my body, my whole body became lax (tendons slipping out of place, joint instability, sloppier skin). being on such a low dose of T4, I think these sides are dramatic, so there is a chance something more sinister is at play but doctors here are not particularly helpful. I have always been the kind happy to keep to the natural route as I always had satisfactory progress, but these new dramatic changes to my body seem beyond the scope of fixing naturally.
a little backstory: January 2014 I was hospitalized for two weeks, had seizure, conjunctivitis, could not walk for a month. diagnosis was ''suspected viral''. at the time I was on a low-moderate dose of the antidepressant effexor xr, and I myself am positive this played a part. about 5-6 weeks into starting this med I was weightlifting 3-4 days a week and doing an hour cardio in between days, and one day my gut suddenly became noticeable (always had a flat abdomen). I chalked this up to 'bloating' and continued on.. around the same time some of my muscles became a little softer (noticeably, but still full for the most part) calves, brachioradialis, pectorals, and erections seemed looser at the base area.. most other muscles were completely unaffected. there was also skin texture changes mostly around the abdomen and nowhere else (skin turned weirdly soft and mushy, could crinkle it up between fingers even at a low BF). the recent T4 negative effects mentioned first paragraph seem to mirror some of these of the effexor, but it spread to pretty much the rest of the body. the 'bloating' from the effexor never resolved, it's a 24/7 thing, doesn't matter what I eat or don't eat but it's been a nightmare and I have had a gastroscopy that showed up nothing. to me it seems it could be fluid in there or structural changes. the skin never resolved after the effexor either, which leaves me doubtful this negative experience with T4 will clear up on it's own which leaves me with an open mind to substances which may help get me back on track. after the effexor incident I could function normally and was back in the gym after two months, and back deadlifting close to 500lb raw in 1.5-2 year mark.. I was not worried at that time about getting back to good health but this time I am worried as it has been around 2.5 months on anti-thyroid and beta blockers and my body feels no better, the least exertion feels like the tendons will slip out of place in my abdomen area.
all input welcome :]
