My doctor this morning wants to put me on testosterone replacement therapy, (test injections) is it okay to take without arimidex or hcg? Doctor wants me only on testosterone, nothing else.
My labs came back:
Total test: 468 (350-1200 normal range)
Free test: 9.8 (9.0-26.0 normal range)

I would be very reluctant actually I wouldn't even consider TRT if you have natural levels at close to 468..... How old are you? Most important, do you have any significant symptoms? If not, beware..... Once you start you may need to continue indefinetly.
A lot of people take without the ancillary products but all depends on bloodwork and cosmetics regarding testicle atrophy.

Has the doctor performed the standard checks prior starting TRT?

The numbers are a guideline but it's important to consider all components; numbers as above, general health and motivation, sexual Health and function and performance; psychological state depression anxiety; energy levels and other medical issues.

Yeah, yettibecsuse is right. What symptoms of Low Testosterone are you experiencing? That number alone is on the lower end, but I think right at the edge of what would not be classified as the lower end (if that makes any sense).
Did you only do one blood test? I had to take three to confirm my numbers before I started, even though I was experiencing almost all the sides. You'll want to know all your numbers as a baseline before you start, so if you decided to go through with it I'd insist your doctor have you tested for a full panel. You can find what he should be checking for in numerous threads on here.

Low sex drive, well wanting to have it, but sometimes struggling to keep erection after sex is initiated, male pattern baldness, fatigue, sluggish, haven't felt right since I was 18....what I wanna know is, if I go on testosterone shots (1 200mg test cyp shot) every 2 weeks, will I need an estrogen blocker or any hcg? I wanna have kids in the future and would like to take the shots to try and feel better but I don't wanna take them if they will make me infertile or ruin me for life, I wanna do it right
All other labs were good, and testosterone was in the normal range for males up to 40 years of age, but it was in the low normal side
*also, my last question is, let's say you were operating at 800 and dropped down to 400, even if it falls within the normal range, which is just a guideline in my opinion, wouldn't you still feel a difference?

If you go on TRT the main reason is to keep your test levels in range so you don't need an AI buddy

If your age is 22, like it says on profile, you need to diagnose whats causing the low T.
Its not normal for a 22 year to have low testosterone, and injecting exogenous will only patch the underlying problem.
You need full bloodwork.
Oh, and male pattern baldeness is from DHT (dihydrotestosterone), the more testosterone you have the faster you will go bald. Dont forget to test DHT.

First off, one single 200mg shot every two weeks sounds like the days of TRT in its infancy. The people I know that are on this take twice a week shots, maybe once a week but I'd be surprised if they didnt feel better dong it twice.
Second, you're probably aware, once you're on you're supposed to do it for life. Your body will completely shut off testosterone production and you'll need to get all of yours from a needle. HCG should keep you fertile, and depending on your blood work and how you respond, you'll have to spend months determining what dose of AI you'll need.
I'm not sure about your 400 vs 800 question. Some people operate better lower, some higher. Anecdotally I've heard of people decreasing their dose and actually feeling an improvement. It's about more than just numbers, it's how you feel at those numbers. And like was mentioned, if you are balding you will likely bald even more if you're prone to it. In other words it will happen sooner than if you just let it happen naturally.

Op it doesn't matter what your total test is. Judge by your free T as it is what works for you. And your level is not good. Like BB said, you need full blood work to determine what is possibly suppression you. BW is how you find the causative factor. Don't band aid it with TRT. In the Finding A Doc Sticky thread at the top of this forum is a list of BW that you should get.
Re your current doctor. Simply recommending one shot every two weeks means he/she has no relative knowledge about hormones. Find a better doctor and get squared away. It would suck to embark on TRT if you were mis-diagnosed and the problem was correctable.
